From Aiken County Sheriffs Office!
The Aiken County Sheriff’s Office is using every resource available to find Javeayah Harris. Multiple law enforcement partners and other first responders have been searching on the ground, using helicopters and drones to search by air, canvassing the neighborhood conducting interviews, and collecting available videos since Javeayah was reported missing June 30
We have trained emergency management personnel and law enforcement officers who have blanketed the area using proven search and rescue techniques and are not accepting volunteers. People who are not trained properly can unknowingly interfere with these types of critical searches and every second counts when we are searching for a missing child. We simply cannot risk someone not properly trained making a mistake, missing a clue, or causing other harm. So far, our teams have searched a little over 3000 acres. (see included map)
The public has expressed concern that an Amber Alert has not been issued. At this time, the information investigators have developed does not meet the criteria for issuing an amber alert; see the link https://www.sled.sc.gov/node/741 for the criteria needed. SLED agents are fully engaged in this search and are prepared to issue an amber alert if additional information is developed to meet the criteria.
Prior information released on Javeayah being nonverbal has been investigated. Initial information stated Javeayah may have been nonverbal or autistic. As we received additional information, we determined that is not accurate. Her parents describe her as smart, talkative and friendly to anyone she may meet.
If anyone has any information to find Javeayah or sightings, tips can be called into (803) 502-5200. If you think you have any video or photographs relevant to this investigation, between June 15th to June 30th, it can be sent via this link or by scanning the QR Code. https://aikensheriffsc.evidence.com/axon/community-request/public/hillsboroharris
