Don’t let fall’s fun turn into a pet emergency. As the weather cools and the holidays approach, new risks pop up for our four-legged family members. Our fall pet safety guide covers common seasonal hazards, from toxic plants and holiday foods to cooler weather tips. Keep your furry friend safe, healthy, and happy this season!

​Key Hazards to Watch Out For:

​-Toxic Plants and Fungi: Watch out for acorns, chrysanthemums, and certain mushrooms that can be toxic if ingested by your pet.

​-Holiday Foods: Keep pets away from Halloween candy (especially chocolate and xylitol), cooked bones from Thanksgiving meals, and fatty foods that can cause pancreatitis.

​-Antifreeze: As temperatures drop, people start using antifreeze, which is highly toxic to pets. It has a sweet taste that can attract them, so be sure to clean up any spills immediately.

​-Cooler Weather: Even mild temperatures can be a concern for some breeds. If your pet is older, a puppy, or a short-haired breed, they might need a sweater or coat to stay comfortable on walks.
