This has been a hard post to write — change is never easy, especially when it involves letting go of programs that have meant so much to me, and to so many of you over the years.
At the end of July, I’ll be saying goodbye for now to our Obedience Board & Train programs, including Behavior Modification. This isn’t a forever goodbye, but rather a pause — one without a set return date. I know this will be disappointing to some, and trust me, it’s not a decision I’ve made lightly. These programs have been at the heart of what we do, but it’s time for a season of change, rest, and growth in other areas.

That said, we will continue to offer very limited overnight boarding, but there are changes coming that will be announced later in July & will go into effect in August.

Now for some 𝐆𝐎𝐎𝐃 news! 🙌
We’re making training even more accessible and affordable. Starting now, in-person evaluations are no longer required!
We’ll still chat over the phone before booking any private lessons, but the extra step of meeting in person first? 𝑮𝒐𝒏𝒆.

And it gets better — we’re dropping prices across the board:

4 Lessons: was $600 → now $200

All lessons will now be held at our main location or virtually. If you'd prefer in-home lessons, there will be a per lesson mileage charge. This doesn’t apply to already purchased packages, for those clients, we will be finishing those out as planned.

We’re also doubling down on learning together in new and exciting ways:
🧭 Seminars are coming! Tracking, scent work, trick training, obedience & more — starting in August.

🏕️ And the thing I am most excited about….introducing Camp Outland! This fall, we’re launching weekend getaways where you and your dog can train, relax, and reconnect at beautiful parks across the state. Think: reactive dog retreats, tracking foundations, team-building weekends, and more. There will be very limited availability & first dates dropping soon!

And finally, our new NASDA club. You’re always welcome to reach out here, to myself, Monica, or Erica for try-its, practice, or upcoming seminar information!
I’m so grateful for the trust and support you’ve given me over the years — through every change, every dog, every moment of growth. These new paths wouldn’t be possible without the incredible community we’ve built together.

🚨 A few important updates from Outland K9! 🚨

We’ve got some exciting changes coming soon — including updated pricing, fresh new class offerings, and a few brand-new programs we can’t wait to share with you!

But first, a quick (and important) heads-up:
Starting now, we require proof of current vaccinations to be sent in before, instead of the first day of, any evaluations, classes, or boarding services can take place.
You can text or email them to us — whatever’s easiest!

✅ Required vaccines:
• Rabies
• DHPP

💉 Optional but recommended:
• Lepto
• Lyme
• Bordetella

If you’re a current client and know your pup is due, just shoot us a message when you have the updated records.

Lastly, we’ll be rolling out updated terms and conditions in the coming months. These will need to be signed by all current and future clients, so keep an eye out!

Let’s talk for a minute about ethical breeding.
What it really means, why it matters, and why every dog lover should care.

Ethical breeding is so much more than just making cute puppies or producing dogs for sport or work. It’s about doing right by every single dog brought into the world. For their entire life.

That starts with real, meaningful health testing. And no, it's not just an Embark test. While DNA tests can offer some insights, they do not replace the full spectrum of testing required by a breed's parent club. For example, in many breeds, that includes:

OFA or PennHIP for hips and elbows
Cardiac exams with a veterinary cardiologist
Eye exams with a board-certified ophthalmologist
Genetic tests for specific conditions relevant to that breed
Every breed has its own standards and risks. Ethical breeders know this and follow those protocols religiously. Health testing isn’t an “extra”—it’s the bare minimum.

But ethical breeding doesn’t stop at health clearances.

An ethical breeder is a lifelong partner. They don’t disappear after the sale. They:

•Support their puppy families through training, nutrition, and behavior challenges
•Celebrate the wins and help you through the rough patches
•Check in periodically just to make sure everything’s going well
•Always take the dog back—no guilt, no questions asked—if something changes
•Feel true accountability if a dog they produced ends up with a genetic issue
•You’re not just buying a dog. You’re joining a community. Your breeder should be one of your most trusted allies.

Now, let’s also be clear about this: 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 dog deserves a loving home, full stop. Adopting is wonderful and life-changing. I work with some 𝘢𝘮𝘢z𝘪𝘯𝘨 rescues that I will always support & always recommend clients who are looking to adopt go to.
But there’s no shame in choosing to shop from an ethical breeder if you’re looking for a dog that fits your home, lifestyle, and family for the long haul.

You don’t need to want a dog for sport, conformation, or protection work. It is perfectly valid to want a temperamentally sound, health-tested, well-raised puppy who will be a stable, lifelong companion. That’s a reason, too.

The key is knowing what to look for—and supporting breeders who put in the work to do it right.

This post wasn’t started as a plug, but for the record, this is a service I offer for free to anyone, client or otherwise. I will help you w**d through breeders, breeds, etc. to find the perfect ethically bred dog for your home. Just send me a message or email.

We’ve been a little MIA lately… but for very good (and very dog-filled) reasons!

Between a big weekend at our home kennel club show in Tulsa and a quick trip to Oregon to pick up our newest team member, things have been hectic!

Meet Rane — a spunky, smart, and adorably fuzzy Swedish Vallhund who’s joining our crew as our brand new demo dog-in-training! Don’t worry, Etta isn’t going anywhere — she’s still holding down her top dog title. But soon, you’ll start seeing Rane at classes, lessons, and events as she learns the ropes and shows off just how awesome training with us can be.

We’re also wrapping up our last couple of weeks in our Intro to Tracking class (sniffing out fun and focus one trail at a time!) and getting ready to kick off our next round of group classes. Stay tuned for announcements!

AND (because we love a good project), we’re gearing up to break ground on our state-of-the-art boarding facility right here on our acreage — just as soon as the rain gives us a break & we can dry out some. Keep an eye out for sneak peeks and progress pics… it’s going to be amazing.

The event is open to the public, and there’s something for every dog lover—dock diving, FastCAT, Rally, Obedience, and conformation all happening throughout the weekend. Week Five Tracking Class Update!
This week we focused on structural and environmental changes while tracking on grassy and other soft surfaces. Handlers and dogs worked through new challenges, learning how different ground textures and conditions impact scent work. Everyone made amazing progress adapting to these new variables — proud of all the teams!

Delta will be available in the coming months to a department or private entity. She will most likely be available as dual purpose, though will be completely green as far as apprehension goes.
