Sweet little MJ went to Hope Clinic this morning for her spay surgery. We took her to our local vet on Friday to get all of her shots and testing for heart worms and other parasites. She was negative for everything and given a good medical report, along with her injections. That vet could not get her in for the spay surgery in time for her transport, so we scheduled that with Hope for today. Mawmaw and I dropped MJ off at Hope and drove back toward home and stopped by my family doctor for my apt, then went back home. We had planned to go back to Hope around 4 this afternoon to pick MJ up and have two of our others checked out by the doc. But, shortly after getting home I received a call from Hope advising that the doc had opened her up to find that she has already been spayed!! We checked closely and could not find any signs that she had been spayed and so did the doc. Poor little girl had to go through this process for nothing, but there was just no way to know for sure. Plus, the charges are the same as if they did the complete surgery.
Mawmaw and I took Luke and Lil Joe with us as we headed back to Hope to bring MJ home. Lil Joe needed his annual exam along with all of his baby shots, and Luke needed to be checked for a possible UTI. Doc said Luke does have a nasty UTI and sent him home with some antibiotics. The only reason I thought he MAY have a UTI is due to an awful odor to his p*e. He has not acted like he feels bad, no fever nor anything to alert me that he was having an issue. Luke is paralyzed, but unlike a lot of these guys, Luke seldom has UTIs. He has always been very independent and does not want me to help him p*e, but I do have to keep diapers on him at all times because he never knows when he will have an accident. He loves playing with the others but his favorite thing to do is chase squirrels. As most could imagine - We Do Not Allow Squirrel Chasing Around Here!!! We have explained this to Luke on many occasions, but he just can not help himself. But, those silly squirrels do not make things any easier because they will climb up, just out of Lukes reach and taunt him. Luke is rather sp*edy at times and one of these days I am afraid Luke is gonna make those silly squirrels wish they had been nicer to him.
I was proud of Lil Joe today because he sat on the bench at the vets office like a little gentleman. He weighted 4.8 pounds and was negative for HW and other parasites. Doc suspects he may be the product of inbreeding because he seems a little slow most of the time, and I can tell that any training will be a bit challenging. This little boy is very sweet and loving, which kinda outweighs the "intelligence" issue. He plays constantly and is such a happy little soul. According to the doc Lil Joe is just barely past his first birthday. Says he does not think he has reache4d 1 1/2 yet, so we will just say he turned a year old in Sept.
It has been a busy day for us and I think we will get an early bedtime tonight. I am pushing Tommy in hopes that he will send me to bed early. Little MJ is still resting so I will likely make a bed for her in my bedroom tonight so I can watch after her, but I will hope that she stays asleep through the night. Have a blessed evening and remember to Pay it Forward.
