Thanksgiving is about good food, good company and good pets. You may want to give your furry friend a taste of something that’s on your plate, but it’s a good idea to make sure it’s safe for them to eat first. Luckily, we’ve made a list of holiday foods to enjoy (yum!) and holiday foods to avoid (no-no!) for your pet.

Summer Safety Tips for Your Pup

As summer heats up, it’s important to keep our furry friends safe and comfortable. Pavement and asphalt can get dangerously hot during the day—hot enough to burn your dog’s paw pads within seconds. If you wouldn’t walk barefoot on it, neither should they!

To protect your pup:

Walk during the cooler hours of the day—early morning or late evening are best.

Keep walks short and bring water along to help them stay hydrated.

Check the pavement with your hand: If it’s too hot for your palm after 7 seconds, it’s too hot for paws.

And never, ever leave your dog in a parked car—even with the windows cracked. Temperatures inside can climb to life-threatening levels in minutes, even on a mild day.

Let’s all do our part to keep our pets safe and cool this summer.
