Well, the USHJA National Championship show is a wrap. What an experience! It was a very intimidating show for the girls but they showed great courage and brought back ribbons from every class! It was a learning experience, testing their nerves to the fullest extent possible. They overcame and stuck with it and I'm very proud of them. Their horses took in all in stride (pardon the pun) and were absolute saints all week long. If we're blessed to be able to come back next year, we'll know what to expect. At any rate, a really good time was had by all! And what an excellent show the DIHP put on!

We had another great show last weekend! Betty won the derby and Lindsay was champion in her division. Thank you to KA Productions for putting on another great show. These ladies are showing the work and determination it takes as we gear up for Las Vegas...and it's paying off! Congratulations!

Last weekend I took my client Annette to a rated CDS dressage show. I am so thrilled with her performance, a 2nd with a score of 65%! She hadn't been in the show arena for several years and was just hoping to get down centerline without problems (haha). Turns out I'm diversifying. To be fair, it's not that different from the flatwork we do with our hunter/jumper horses. I expect educated flatwork from all my horses and riders and we work on it here at Cornerstone. Congratulations Annette! I can't wait for the next one!

It was really good to get back to the show ring. It's been a while. Couldn't have asked for a better day. Betty and Lindsay went to have fun and build their confidence. Betty and Nonchalant were champion in both the Stirrup and the Green Rider divisions with several 1sts. Lindsay brought home several 2nds and 3rds with her new horse Flynn Rider at their first show together. Their boys couldn't have behaved better. The KA Productions show was so much fun, we're looking forward to the next one with anticipation.

It is finally done! Buddy the goat has a shelter for the rainy season. What a project!! The proverbial 2-day project that turns into a 5-day project. We used to put him in a horse stall when it rained but they're full with clients (that's a good thing) but now we needed a shelter. We bought the roof and posts from someone on Facebook. Didn't occur to us that we're doing the whole thing bass ackwards. How do you put in the posts with an already finished roof? Short of taking it totally apart we got this done. Levels, plumb lines, various electric hand tools etc. It was an engineering nightmare. The ground is uneven and slopes, the goat pen is supposed to be square but is cattywhompus due to the goat, the hedge isn't straight and we needed a 2% slope for runoff. Plus a goat that felt he should inspect and supervise the entire operation. Good golly it's done!

Tomorrow, August 10, is the Cowboys For Christ Norco Open House at our facility! The event will be from 3:00 - 7:00pm. Things are really gearing up for this to be an outstanding event to kick off California's only chapter of Cowboys For Christ. Everyone is welcome! There will be games for the kids, including branding (supervised of course), free hamburgers right off the grill and drinks, line dancing, lots of fun conversation and a huge raffle that includes awesome items. I've included a picture of spurs that were just donated! We've got a headstall from Inland Vet Supply, several bags of pellets from Vivi's, pallets of shavings from Tractor Supply, Baskets of goodies from several feed and tack stores in Norco and a straw hat of your choosing from the Tackroom Hatworks in Norco. Everyone has been so generous in helping us make this event a huge success!

We had so much fun at the No Show show yesterday. The girls rode really well and the horses were so very good. Betty, Haley and Lindsay, I'm so proud of what you've accomplished these past few months. As yesterday proved, it's time to take this on the road!

It's so hot I'm actually rethinking my stance on mud and grooming dirty horses. It must be hot!
