We’d like to introduce you to ECC’s newest resident, Samson. He arrived last week, closing out a period of unexpected change in his life. Samson has had one owner in his 28 years and belonged to a small, retired herd of AQH cutting horses locally here in Virginia. The recent passing of his owner has necessitated that family make hard decisions about this elderly herd of horses. ECC is grateful to have been able to offer a soft landing spot for Samson. We are even more grateful for the continued support and involvement of his owners’ family in his wellbeing and placement here!
Moving to a new farm, meeting new people, and joining a new herd is a challenging transition for any horse, but particularly when it comes along with the loss of the life you’d known for nearly three decades. Certainly these turn of events are not what anyone would have wished for, but in a very bittersweet way we are still so glad that this friendly fellow has found his way to us.
At 28, he’s meeting his new world with a bravery and curiosity that we could all learn a thing or two from! We hope that for all he has lost, he will have many things to gain here in this new chapter.
