Keep your eyes open for snow in the forecast. A snow ride is something you will never forget!! A fresh blanket of snow, the quiet calm of Koteewi Park, and the warmth of horse under you. You will not regret it. regrets

The girls had to sample the new hay straight from the wagon. Thank you for always delivering quality hay for our herd.

Meet our volunteer Penny. In her own words…

I grew up on a large farm in southern Indiana. We had cows, horses, pigs and chickens. Though I enjoyed spending time with all the animals, I always felt a special connection to the horses and spent a lot of time with them out in the fields and in the woods. Our closest neighbors had a farm on which they raised Appaloosa's. I was fortunate enough to receive horsemanship lessons and was taught how to ride English, Western, do jumping and trail riding. During those years I was also able to raise and break my own filly, Nellie B, and c**t, Spotted Wolfe.
Like many folks, during my teenage years I experienced times of frustration and sadness. During those times, while in the barn, the horses seemed to me to be unusually calm and attentive and brought me much comfort. Spotted Wolfe would come near and softly put his head on my shoulder.
Because of this experience, when I learned of the mission of Ben's Ranch at Koteewi stables, I felt compelled to volunteer as I hoped to participate in making this positive experience with horses available to bless others.

Who wants to experience the serene stillness of a snow ride? This is one of the great things about being open all year long.

We offer beginner horse riding lessons all year long. We will be outside unless the weather is bad and then we have a round pin to work on groundwork. Our instructor is Bobbi Milam who has 40+ years of experience. Bobbi prefers to have students 10 years or older. We have one hour private lessons. You can book online at www.koteewitrails.org/bookaride.

Meet our riding instructor Bobbi. In her own words…
My name is Bobbi and I’m the main/original Koteewi riding instructor. I took my first riding lesson when I was in my mid 20’s, although I don’t remember a time I wasn't obsessed with horses. For the last 40+ years horses have defined my life. I’ve participated in many of the English disciplines specializing in Dressage and have been blessed to have owned and ridden a number wonderful horses, several to regional and national awards.

I was lucky enough to board with an endurance rider early in my horse journey and she introduced me to trail riding. I’ve always loved getting out on the trails and regularly incorporate trail rides in my riding lessons.

Meet our trail guide, assistant manager, substitute riding lesson instructor, and CTE teacher Katelyn. In her own words…

I fell in love with horses about six years ago, and that passion led me to become a PATH CTRI instructor, mentor, and CHA IRD instructor. Since then, I’ve spent six years teaching riders of all ages and abilities, along with working as a volunteer manager, instructor mentor, and site manager at a therapeutic riding facility.

I love mules, enjoy riding, and helping with training new horses that come onto the property. Outside of Koteewi, I’m a full-time massage therapist with my own business—my love for massaging horses is what actually what sparked my passion for learning to massage people.

Working at Koteewi Trails & Stables lets me continue sharing the power of the horse. Helping others grow in their horsemanship and discover their own connection with these incredible animals is something I’m grateful to be part of every day.
