Nothing too "weird" about bladder stones.

If your pet is straining to urinate it is very important to have them checked by your Vet. X-rays can uncover hidden issues.

Surgery will be needed to remove the stones. The stones will then be sent out for identification to determine the best course of treatment.

1. Google is great! We use Google. However, you must know what information is reputable.
2. When a pet is aggressive, it generally means he/she is scared. We want to sedate your pet so that the visit is not only safer for you, the pet and us; but we want the pet to have a good experience.
3. Parvo is expensive. Rabies is fatal. Heartworm Disease is a hard and long treatment. We promote disease prevention for a reason.
4. Follow our full directions or post-op instructions for the best possible outcome.

Our Story

Dr. Connie Hyler-Both, a 1984 graduate of Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine, moved to WV in 1986. In 1987, she was working for another practice that had a mobile clinic in Hinton, as there was no permanent practice there. She was approached by someone looking to sell a building that he thought would be a great location for a veterinary practice in Summers County. She had no idea that it would become New River Animal Hospital, but God did!

After much thought and prayer, it was decided to renovate the old store in Nimitz and start a veterinary hospital. Starting with a single employee, we’ve grown over time to provide jobs and employment for 9 people. The years have had their ups and downs, including some major health challenges for Doc, but we have developed a loyal clientele and staff. We’ve expanded to provide surgery, digital radiology, dentistry, preventative medicine, laser therapy, boarding and grooming,

In 2013, Dr. Sarah Koressel, a 2005 graduate from Purdue University College of Veterinary Medicine joined our team in helping offer “our best for pets and their people.” Thirty years later, we’re still here, proudly serving the community with care and experience.
