Rosie’s before and after!!

I can’t believe I have to make a post like this, but after more than 48 hours of bullying and harassment, I feel it’s necessary to share the truth.

On Thursday morning, my husband found our two kittens after they had been brutally attacked by a neighborhood stray cat. The cat appeared sick, injured, and unwell. It had also been urinating on our property and neighboring properties. Unsure of what to do, I made a post in the “Niagara Brats” Facebook group asking for advice on how to handle an aggressive stray cat that had harmed my kittens.

At first, the responses were incredibly helpful. Many wonderful women involved in rescues and shelters provided resources and phone numbers for organizations that could safely trap and assist the cat. I am very grateful for their help.

Unfortunately, one individual chose to respond with insults rather than advice. During the discussion, another commenter mentioned that he had once used ice melt on his own porch to discourage cats from urinating there. I replied that I would not be doing that. While people are free to make their own decisions regarding their property, I would never intentionally harm an animal.

A separate comment I made while explaining that ice melt could irritate a cat’s paws was screenshotted, taken completely out of context, and shared across multiple social media pages. Since then, false claims have been made about me, my family, and my business. People have accused me of harming animals, neglecting animals, and putting down salt to injure a cat. None of these claims are true.

Many of you know me personally and know my business. You know how much I care about animals. I would never intentionally harm any animal, including a stray cat.

I have received threats, insults, and harassment not only from the individual who started these rumors, but also from others who never saw my original post. The Niagara Brats page ultimately removed the original post and banned the individual involved due to the harassment taking place.

Most importantly, thanks to the many helpful people who reached out, the stray cat was safely trapped Thursday night by experienced individuals. They confirmed that the cat appeared unwell and likely had not received proper veterinary care for some time. The cat is now in Great hands, where it can receive the help it needs.

No cat was harmed by me or anyone acting on my behalf.

I also want everyone to know that my kittens, Frog and Toad, are doing very well. Many of you have met them over the past few weeks as they enjoy sunbathing smack dab in the middle of the parking lot! Toad’s eye is healing nicely, they have received veterinary care and extra vaccinations for their protection, now! they are back to their happy, energetic selves. They’re once again patrolling the property and keeping the mouse population under control. And of course bringing me the gifts as proof of their hunting skills!! YUCK!

Any animal advocate would be thrilled with this news! after informing the woman had happened to the cat she didn’t seem to care. She continued to harm me in anyway possible. Insults, threats, more harassment. She is now blocked from all my platforms for not just my protection but the privacy of my clients and family.

Additionally, I have thoroughly cleaned and sanitized the areas where the stray cat had been urinating, so there is no concern for the animals in my care.

I will not be naming the individual responsible for these posts because I do not want anyone harassing her in return. Despite everything that has been said about me and my wonderful buisness. I do not wish her any harm. I sincerely hope she finds peace, happiness and sound of mind.

However, I do ask that people think critically before believing everything they see online. A screenshot rarely tells the full story.

To my loyal customers, friends, and supporters: thank you. Your kindness, support, and trust mean the world to me. I am incredibly grateful for each and every one of you, and I will continue doing everything I can to provide the best care possible for the animals entrusted to me. I would die for you and your furry babies.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

With love,

Melissa
