716 PAWS Saving lives, one bark at a time. Rescuing, rehabilitating, and finding forever homes for dogs. We help both local and out of state animals find homes.

716 Paws is a group of avid animal advocates who knows its our responsibility and passion to help both families and animals find their perfect match. We are a volunteer-based animal rescue group founded to facilitate the placement of animals into their best-matched forever home. Our goal is to reduce the overall euthanasia rate amongst canines and to give both dog and human alike a forever compani

on. Transitioning to life with a new dog can be challenging for an owner, and in the same respect, transitioning to a new home can be challenging for an animal. This is why 716 Paws offers programs for adoption-adaptation. We work tirelessly to make sure that each dog’s new home is their forever home.

Name: Oreo
Breed Shih Tzu
Age: 5 years
S*x: Female Spayed
Location: Buffalo

This precious little girl landed into our rescue through no fault of her own. A princess at heart, Oreo is one beautiful little girl. You can see into her soul when you look into those deep brown eyes and her cute little “toofie” smile. With a silky black coat with the most gorgeous tail she is a true beauty.

At five years old, Oreo is a spunky spirit packed into a small body with short little legs. Oreo walks beautifully on a leash and loves to go for walks and struts herself proudly.

Oreo can be shy at our events but it’s at home where her inner sparkle truly shines! Oreo enjoys a romp outside in the yard, she dutifully comes when you call her. She loves stuffies that she can throw around and chase, but if you sit down on the sofa you can expect her to be right there with you. This little girl is the best snuggle bunny you ever had. Oreo lives with two dogs and cats and has no problems with them. She would do best in a quieter home with no small children.

Oreo is not a fan of her crate, but when you’re a princess all you really need is a thrown to lay on in a safe place!

If you are interested in adopting Oreo, please apply at www.716paws.org/adopt or message the page to get on her list.

Breed: Terrier mix
S*x: Male (neutered)
Location: Lockport

Hi, I’m Milo! Do you like playing and running around all day, and cuddling in between? I do! I’m a really good boy with a lot of energy. I might look tough but I’m really a softie. I also love cuddling on my human’s lap when they’re working on their computer or watching TV.

Milo is a very smart and energetic boy. He was returned after six months of being with his adopted family, due to his high energy around the young children, and accidentally knocking them over. With continuous training, he’s learning when it’s acceptable to let his energy out.

🐱 🐶 Milo plays well with cats and dogs of all shapes sizes and colors

💙 Crate trained

🍔 No food aggression

🌳 90% potty trained

✅ Knows his name and basic commands

🥰 Big cuddler

💝 Milo needs a patient and active family who won’t give up on him.

‼️ He would do best in a home with no young children, but would do well with respectful teens and adults.

‼️ A large yard and/or active lifestyle is required as Milo loves to run and be outside as much as possible

Because of his background, Milo’s future family will need to be patient and give him time to adjust. He may need a few weeks to learn a new routine, and feel comfortable in a new environment. Milo is a very loving, loyal companion, and will continue to be, with proper time and effort.

If you are interested in adopting Milo, please apply at https://www.716paws.org/adopt or message the rescue if you are already pre-approved

Every year, 716 PAWS is honored to be invited to this very special fundraiser for The JDS Foundation ❤️🐾. The love, attention, kisses, and cuddles we receive from our friends at JDS truly warm our hearts and remind us why these moments matter so much.

Ducky and Anthony joined us for the day, and we think everyone can agree just how special they are. These sweet pups are still available for adoption and absolutely adore everyone they meet.

Thank you to the JDS Foundation for inviting us to be part of such an incredible day. We are grateful for your kindness, support, and the joy you bring to both our volunteers and our dogs 🐶✨.

Update— thank you so much for everyone who sent us donations! We are fully stocked on formula now! We still need more puppy food and disposable puppy pads!

Urgent supplies needed!! We have so many puppies in foster. We are in desperate need for formula, puppy pads, and puppy food!!

We have Mama Annie and her 9 puppies in foster that are already 2 weeks old!

We recently took in Tallulah, an injured Rottweiler puppy who was just days old and left for dead on the street in Niagara Falls. Her poor paw was left dangling so our furiends at VCA Sheridan fixed up her up. She was recently seen there for a check up and things are healing nicely. She’s a fighter! Tallulah is a little chunker and flying through formula!

Ruby, a local Boston Terrier went for an appointment to be spayed and 3-4 little nuggets were seen on the X-rays! She’s due any day and that means more mouths to feed and care for!

Please consider buying some items off our puppy wishlist — p*e pads, formula and puppy food are the most urgent but our fosters would love some puppy toys too! 😊

Thank you for helping us keep tails wagging and bellies full. 💕

Hi everyone! I'm a retired mill mama, which means I spent the first part of my life having puppies for people to profit from. Those days are behind me now, and I'm learning what it means to simply be loved.

I'm currently living in a wonderful foster home where I have canine friends to play with and lots of humans to shower me with attention. While many former mill dogs can be very fearful, I'm a pretty social girl! I love snuggling with my people, following my foster family from room to room, playing with my doggy friends in the yard, and soaking up all the affection I can get.

As a proud mama, my body tells the story of the many puppies I've had. You may notice that my teats aren't flat against my belly, and that's perfectly okay! I wear them as a badge of honor, a reminder of where I've been and the babies I cared for. Now it's finally my turn to be cared for.

I'm working hard on my house training. Since I spent my life in a mill environment, many everyday household routines are completely new to me. With patience, consistency, and a regular schedule, I'm making great progress and learning what it means to be a cherished family pet.

My ideal home includes:
🐾 A securely fenced yard where I can safely explore and play
🐾 A friendly resident dog to help me continue building confidence
🐾 Someone who is home most or all of the day, as I truly love being with my people

If you're looking for a sweet, loyal companion who will happily follow you everywhere and fill your days with love, I may be the perfect match for you! If you are interested in Chanel please apply at https://www.716paws.org/adopt or message the rescue on Facebook, if you're already approved!

Meet Anthony! 🐾

Anthony is the life of the party! If you’re looking for a pup who will make you laugh, keep you entertained, and brighten every room he walks into, Anthony is your guy. He loves people and enjoys making new friends wherever he goes.

Anthony would thrive in a home with a playful canine sibling who can match his energy level or as an only dog soaking up all the attention. He can be a little too enthusiastic with smaller dogs and would likely do best with a medium to large-sized playmate. Anthony has not been cat tested. However, due to Anthony’s playful personality a home without cats would be ideal.

Anthony adores children but can still be a bit mouthy during play, so he would do best in a home with teens or adults who can continue working on his manners and training. He loves toys, chew bones, and Kongs, and you’ll often find him exploring his surroundings, sniffing every inch of the yard, or zooming around with his dog friends. He’s even learning how to play fetch!

Anthony has been in foster care since early March after arriving as a chunky 6-week-old puppy. Around 8 weeks of age, he began experiencing neurological episodes. Since starting medication and transitioning to a specialized diet, Anthony has done a complete 180 and has remained episode-free. Overall, he is a happy, healthy puppy but will need an adopter committed to continuing his prescribed Keppra medication and maintaining consistency with his diet.

Anthony is crate trained, sleeps through the night, walks well on a leash, and is currently working on potty training and basic commands. He is neutered, up to date on vaccines (including rabies), microchipped, and on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention.

If you are interested in adopting Anthony, please apply at www.716paws.org/adopt. If you are pre approved and want to be added to his list, send a message to our Facebook or Instagram page, or an email at [email protected]

Name: Baka🐾
Breed: Great Dane
D.O.B: May 2025
S*x: Female/Spayed
Location: Rochester

Baka Needs:
• A family willing to give her at least 14 days to learn their routine and settle in
• A fenced-in yard
• Continuation of her anxiety medication
• A family willing to continue helping her feel safe in her crate
• A patient family that will continue helping her build confidence and will not give up on her

Baka is short for Sobaka which means Dog in Russian. Baka is a 1-year-old Great Dane with a heart as big as her paws. Despite being the size of a small horse, she is still very much a puppy and comes with all the goofy, lovable, and sometimes mischievous tendencies that go along with it.

Baka loves spending time with her people and firmly believes she belongs on the couch with her giant head resting in your lap. She enjoys running around in a fenced yard, playing with sticks, and soaking up attention from the people she trusts.

One thing you'll quickly learn about Baka is that she's a smart girl. She has figured out how to open lever-style door handles, and at her foster home she often lets herself outside when she wants to enjoy the yard. Her foster family jokes that she comes with her own built-in door service.

Baka was rescued from a puppy mill and did not have a normal start to life. For the first several months of her life, she missed out on many of the experiences that help puppies develop confidence and learn how to be part of a family. Since coming into foster care, she has made tremendous progress learning to trust people, follow a routine, and understand that the world is not such a scary place.

To help with her anxiety, Baka takes medication twice daily, and it has made a huge difference in her confidence and overall quality of life. She will need to remain on this medication after adoption. Her foster family adjusts the timing of her medication when they know they will be leaving the house, giving it to her about an hour before departure so it has time to take effect. With this routine, Baka does very well when home alone and is learning that being by herself is nothing to worry about.

Baka is making amazing progress with crate training and knows the command "Kennel Up." Her foster family crates her when they leave the house, and she has come a long way in learning that her crate is a safe place. They are also working on having her sleep in her crate at night so she continues building positive associations with it, even when everyone is home.

She is good with other dogs, but she would likely thrive as the only dog in the home where she can receive all of the attention and continue building her confidence without competition from other pets. Due to her size and puppy enthusiasm, Baka would do best in a home without small children. Baka has a prey drive and would do best in a home without cats and small animals.

Because of her background, Baka's future family will need to be patient and give her time to adjust. She may need a few weeks to learn a new routine, understand expectations, and feel comfortable in a new environment. Once she settles in, however, she is an incredibly loving, loyal companion who wants nothing more than to be close to her people.

If you are interested in Baka please apply at https://www.716paws.org/adopt or message the rescue on Facebook, if you're already approved!

We have had a fantastic weekend filled with activity for our furry companions and dedicated volunteers.

Firstly, our sincere thanks to Valu Home Centers in Depew for hosting our adoption event on Saturday, where MeeMee, Marian, Holly, Oreo, and Ruby had a great time meeting new people. We’re happy to have teamed up with our friends from WNY Food 4 Paws, and grateful to those who donated dog/cat food for local pet food pantries.

That same day, Ducky, Anthony, and Paul spent the afternoon at Thirsty DOG Saloon for our adoption and fundraising event. We’re deeply thankful to them for hosting us and to Party on Catering 716 for the delicious BBQ chicken. The proceeds generated and donations received will make a difference - thank you!

Despite the rain, Ruby, Paul, and Oreo enjoyed today’s love and attention at our adoption event at PetSmart (Clarence), for which we are grateful 🐾❤️.
