There are always challenges here and today is no different. From taking in litters of puppies that have had no shots to senior dogs looking for their owner when someone walks by, this job shatters you. As I posted before we have some truly amazing animals here ready for new homes. One of those dogs was Mr. Wiggles he is a gorgeous German Shorthair that came to us as a senior in pretty rough shape, his ears were so infected the puss was oozing out of each, he has hair loss, emaciated and despite being fed multiple meals daily he continues to lose weight. He finally had enough fluids to where we could do a heartworm test on him without causing him pain and he is heartworm positive. We had suspected this because he wants to play but collapses after just a few minutes, he tries to run around but it is too much for him. His body is just done he is frail, his eyes are clouded and he passes out, but his head and soul have not gotten the message. We are planning a day of treats for him, before he crosses the rainbow bridge. We did reach out to rescues but they were unable to help, and we don't think he could take more change in the fragile state he is in. He knows we love him and he is happy.
PLEASE vaccinate and flea/heartworm medicate, some basic simple care would have prevented this and this sweet soul could have had the pain free long life he deserved.
