💔We are devastated and outraged to share that someone in the city of Newton is intentionally placing poison in cat food and water bowls.
Tragically, we have already found one cat dead (below in pic) as a direct result of this horrific, cowardly act and several are missing! ‼️Beware‼️as the perpetrators are trespassing on others’ property doing this!

‼️WE ARE OFFERING A CASH REWARD for any verified information that directly leads to the identification, arrest, and prosecution of the individual responsible‼️
Intentional animal poisoning is a serious crime, a severe safety hazard to local pets and wildlife, and a danger to small children in the neighborhood. We are actively working with law enforcement and local animal control to investigate this matter fully.

🎉 Happy 35th Birthday to our friend, Christopher Beard! 🎂🐾
Christopher adopted Barney from Saved By Grace in 2020. Barney was an incredibly shy kitten who had been living on the streets of Newton. When Christopher applied to adopt him, we invited him to come meet Barney—but honestly, we weren’t sure Barney would be very receptive to a stranger.
Boy did Barney prove us wrong. The moment Christopher sat down, Barney jumped right into his lap. and the rest is history! The connection between these two was truly uncanny. Barney wanted absolutely nothing to do with most of our volunteers, but Christopher was clearly his person. 🥰🐱
Christopher and his family eventually moved from Terre Haute to North Carolina, with Barney right alongside them. Through the years, Christopher has continued to stay in touch with us, sharing wonderful photos and updates on Barney. He and his family have continued to support Saved By Grace, helping us through generous financial donations, words of encouragement, and checking in on our many medical-needs cats. Their kindness and continued support mean more to us than they know. ❤️
We are grateful to have Christopher and his family as part of our Saved By Grace family, and we are thrilled to say that they will be moving back to Terre Haute soon! We can't wait to have them—and Barney—closer again

‼️‼️Domestic Rabbits Cannot Survive in the Wild‼️‼️

Recently, a domesticated rabbit was dumped in Robinson, Illinois and left to fend for itself. We were able to catch this bunny but this situation could have easily ended in tragedy.
There is a common, dangerous misconception that throwing a pet rabbit outside is "setting it free." The reality? It is a death sentence.

🐰Here is why domesticated rabbits cannot survive in the wild:
✅Zero Survival Instincts: Domestic rabbits lack the natural camouflage, foraging skills, and predator-evasion tactics of wild cottontails. To local wildlife, a domestic rabbit is an easy target.
✅Extreme Vulnerability: Domestic breeds are fragile. They cannot handle extreme heat, freezing temperatures, or heavy rain, and they quickly succumb to heatstroke, hypothermia, or illness.
✅Terrifying Stress: Being abandoned in an unfamiliar environment causes immense fear. Rabbits can literally go into shock or suffer fatal heart conditions from stress alone.
✅Starvation & Dehydration: They rely on specific diets. Lawn grass and random plants do not provide the proper nutrients and can often be toxic to their sensitive digestive systems.
‼️If you or someone you know can no longer care for a pet rabbit, do not turn them loose. Reaching out to a shelter, a rescue, or a veterinarian is the only humane option.
Every domesticated animal deserves safety, shelter, and care.
‼️‼️This is the very reason why buying bunnies for Easter for children or having a bunny scramble at a fair is terrible idea‼️‼️

We have been invited back to Tractor Supply on August 15 to participate in their Animal Days event! We will not be having a pork burger sale because of the conflict with other groups that day! We are going ahead with our bake sale so if you would like to bring so baked good please drop off 9am or after! Thanks for your support!
