"Cyanobacteria, commonly called bluegreen algae, are naturally occurring bacteria present in most fresh waterbodies across North Carolina. Under certain environmental conditions, cyanobacteria can reproduce rapidly to form a cyanobacterial bloom. Blooms are most common during summer months when bright sunlight, warm temperatures, and increased nutrient availability promote cyanobacterial growth. Some cyanobacterial blooms are able to produce toxins, called cyanotoxins, which can cause illness in humans and animals that come into contact with water affected by a bloom."*

UPDATE: Luna has been rehomed! Thank you to everyone for your shares and interest in helping sweet Luna!🏡🐶💞

URGENT REHOMING NEED!

Meet Luna! She is a sweet and young at heart 9 year old, spayed German Shepherd who's found herself in need of rehoming by this Saturday, 4/12. She has arthritis and is on maintenance medications for this. She currently lives with cats and is good with them. She is also good with small dogs but may be scared of larger dogs. Her owners also report that she may have separation anxiety as she will not eat when left alone and stares out the window until her people return. Please help us spread the word or consider adding Luna to your home. She needs to be rehomed by this Saturday! Dr. Pennell is training them up right and starting them out early. Recently, a local student came by the hospital to interview Dr. Pennell and take a tour of our facility. It looks like they both had a great time learning from each other.
