The Newport Zoo will be closed this Friday July 4th so that staff can spend them with their families for the holiday. We will be back open again Saturday July 5th at 12pm. Look forward to seeing you all this weekend.

We will be revising out Sloth experience and adding a mini version to make it less stressful for Jerry and more accessible for more visitors. We will be adding a 5 minutes long experience for $10 a person. We will still have the 15 minute visits if you prefer for $20 a person. recommend appointments still.

Fennec Fox - 15 minutes of private play time $15per person

Kangaroo/Wallaby - cuddle time, 15 minutes $20 for groups up to 4 people.

This is Gracie. She is an Albino Bennett wallaby. She is new to the zoo and is here temporarily til she is ready to go to her new home. She is learning to be social and is liking the interaction with people. She will be available to cuddle with in the baby kangaroo experience starting this weekend. Come on down and visit with Gracie and Sylvester. Hope to see you all soon.

Kangaroo experience is $15 per group for up to 4 people at a time. Just let them know you are interested when you check in at the front desk.

In honor of mother day and to show appreciation to all mothers in all the animal kingdom we are having Free general admission for all mothers that come and visit the zoo on Mother's Day Sunday May 11. Just mention you are a mother when you check in at the front desk when you check in. Happy Mother's Day everyone.

Newport Zoo is going to be partnering up with Rage Against Boredom. They are a Rage room with a wrecking ball and that has Axe throwing and blow darts as well. Give them a follow on Facebook here and Check them out. Zoo staff has gone and enjoyed it.

Rage against boredom is located in Aquarium Village right behind Pirates Plunder and just south of Newport Zoo in the same complex. Looking forward to seeing everyone this summer and look for package deals with the Zoo and Rave Room combos.

Sylvester is a Red Kangaroo Joey that came to the zoo needing to be bottle fed. Kangaroo moms can sometimes abandon a baby when they are chased or feel something is not right. Sylvester is now taking bottle form the public and you can be one of his guests. He is 6 to 7 months old and loves people. His favorite is being rubbed under the chin and chest. If you would like to bottle feed and cuddle with him we are having 15 minute Private Time experiences with him. You can have up to 4 people at one time and the fee is $15. You will not need an appointment to feed him just let us know you are interested when you check in. The times are on his personal schedule so he may take a break at random times but it wouldn't be to long. We can not always guarantee he will drink a bottle every time but it will be available for you to feed him a bottle or offer him some happy hopper pellet treats.

It's that time of year where you see the baby bunnies and cute little chicks everywhere. Remember they do grow up. Every year the zoo is asked to take in rabbits that people don't think are small and cute anymore or that chick that grows up to be the noisy Rooster that chases you around the yard. Please be prepared as the zoo doesn't have space to take them in. Please think about the future when you are looking to purchase.

Newport Zoo has a few little guys looking for some permanent homes. As most know the zoo isn't not a place where these animals are meant to stay we look for homes for animals that are in need of care until we are able to find them an appropriate one. If you are interested in any of the following animals available please let us know and we can see about helping you out. You must already have an appropriate enclosure ready before you are able to pick them up. These are available to the first people that can prove that they can care for them. Sorry we will not hold animals for people. You must be able to show common knowledge about the animal. There is a reasonable adoption fee for each animal.

Newport Zoo is looking for someone to come in and help clean up in the mornings. Job will be consist of shoveling shavings, scrubbing, scraping, mopping and pressure washing. Must be able to lift 30 to 50lb bags of shavings and garbage bags. Will be working on cement floor. Will need to be willing to work indoors and outdoors as well as in the rain. Will need to be able to work around all kinds of animals. Around 20 hours a week. Must be reliable and have your own transportation. Private message with any questions. This is Sylvester, he is a Red Kangaroo Joey. He will be at the Newport Zoo doing cuddle times during spring break. Starting Tuesday the 18th to April 6th he will be doing private time experiences with visitors. $15 a visit with up to 4 people at a time gets you 10 minutes of time for you to cuddle this cutie. We can not guarantee he will take a bottle as he only eats so much but you can attempt to give him some milk.

No appointment needed, it will be first come first serve and depend on how much attention he will want that day. It is on his terms only.

To show our appreciation for those that have supported the zoo and enjoyed their visits we will be doing another drawing for a free Fox experience for up to 4 people. The winner will be chosen on March 31st and from the positive reviews that have been made on Google. If you have already left a review then you are already entered to win. Again this is open to anyone that's left a review on Google. We will do another drawing on facebooks reviews as well in the future.
