The City of Newport Beach has partnered with Home Free Animal Sanctuary to provide animal sheltering services. These services include the boarding, care, and feeding of animals collected by NBPD Animal Control. We’re gettin’ low on peanut butter, and our dogs have a clear favorite: Skippy Creamy.

After years of testing (and plenty of happy licks), we’ve found it’s the best for grooming distractions, enrichment toys, and helping pups feel at ease during their stay. The natural stuff just doesn’t freeze the way we need it to.

If you’re able to help, we’re accepting donations of Skippy Creamy Peanut Butter during the hours of 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily. Costco lovers, we’re lookin’ at you. Thanks for keeping our dogs tail-waggin’ and comfy. 🥜

The Newport Beach Animal Shelter is excited to introduce Willow, a one-year-old German Shepherd who’s now available for adoption!

Willow is a smart and curious girl who already knows how to sit and is eager to keep learning. She’s full of energy, loves treats and toys, and just needs a bit of training and a whole lot of love. The tip of one of her ears is missing. We’re not sure how it happened, but it definitely gives her some extra character.

If you’ve been looking for a loyal, active companion, come meet Willow at our California Adopt-a-Pet Day event on Saturday, June 7 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Newport Beach Animal Shelter. All adoption fees will be waived during the event.

Meet Cashew, a sweet 2-year-old Akita mix who is now available for adoption at the Newport Beach Animal Shelter.

Cashew has for a rare condition called masticatory muscle myositis, which affects her jaw muscles. She can eat and drink comfortably, though she still has some difficulty picking up toys.

Cashew knows how to sit and lay down, and she gets bursts of playful energy from time to time. She would benefit from continued training to help her build confidence and skills. We are still learning how she feels about other dogs.

The Newport Beach Animal Shelter is excited to announce that Walter, a 2-year-old Bull Terrier, is now available for adoption.

Walter is a sweet and lovable boy who has been under our care while recovering from some skin issues, which have now been fully resolved.

He gets along well with other dogs and would thrive in a home where he can enjoy playtime, attention, and plenty of love. Walter is neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, and he is ready to settle into a new forever family.
