German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County We are located in Southern California. GSROC is a 501c(3) non-profit organization. We only have the resources to adopt dogs to families in SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA.

Through a careful screening process, we place loving dogs into forever homes with compassionate individuals and families. We begin with an Application, which tells us more about an individual’s experience level, lifestyle, other pets, preferences, etc. so we can recommend dogs that best fit the home. Prospective adopters are encouraged to meet various dogs and to bring all family members and exist

ing pets to meet the dogs they are interested in. Once “the” dog has been selected, we perform a routine Home Visit to ensure the dog will be safe from any hazards, poisons, or dangerous situations. At this time, we advise the adopter if there are any repairs or corrections that need to be made prior to the dog coming home. Adopters pledge to love and care for the adopted dog throughout its entire lifetime. In the event an adopter is no longer able to care for a dog, we insist it come back into our rescue safety net for re-homing. Due to financial and logistical limitations, we do not place dogs outside of the Southern California area. Effective July 1, 2021, our minimum Adoption Donation is $370 plus $25.00 for microchip for dogs over 1 year, and $470 plus $25.00 for microchip for dogs one year old and younger. This donation (tax deductible as allowed by law) helps to offset the costs we have incurred for the dog’s care and housing during his or her stay with our group. All dogs adopted through GSROC are spayed or neutered, current on their vaccinations and de-wormed. Because the minimum Adoption Donation rarely covers the costs associated with each dog, we ask that adopters who are in a position to give additional funds do so at their discretion. We also ask our adopters to help us spread the word about the important work that we do.

This is Mack, aka Big Mac. He is 9 years old and still has the pull power of a Clydesdale. He loves other dogs, the larger the better. Mack is looking for a permanent foster home where he can live out his retirement in the comfort of a loving family. As a permanent foster, Mack will have all of his food and approved vet care sponsored by German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County. We can't stand to see this senior fellow in a kennel, so we are offering someone a wonderful dog with no expenses for care!

Mack will do best in a home without a lot of coming and going--he can become protective of "his" people or his space, so the less visitors, the better. If you live a relatively quiet, somewhat reclusive life and you would like to have a wonderful companion to share secrets with, consider permanent fostering Mack! More photos at gsroc.org.

Kovu wants to know What's Up? He can't understand why he hasn't been adopted yet when he's got so much to offer. This handsome fellow has it all---looks, presence, intelligence and loyalty. At age 5, he's done with all of the adolescent shenanigans and ready to be your wing man in Life.

FROM AN EMAIL THAT WE RECEIVED TODAY:

Good morning, thought I would share with you that we rescued one of the shelter dogs of the week a couple of months ago shared by GSROC. My wife and I anguished about this dog all weekend as she was due for euthanasia and went for her when the shelter opened. Her name was Petal but changed to Bella and what a sweetheart. Ellie and Aster also approve! She has the markings of a GSD but must be mostly a border collie. Thanks GSROC.

If you are looking for a sweet, gentle, happy-go-lucky guy who gets along with all other dogs, look no further than our good boy, Hutch! He is positively precious and so eager to please! Hutch is a smaller shepherd, probably around 55 pounds. At 4 years old, he has outgrown the puppy mischief stage, but still has tons of energy. Please come visit Hutch at a future adoption event!

GSROC NEEDED
With summer temps in SoCAL ranging between 90 and 115 degrees every day, we would like to have these tools to help us gauge when we can safely walk our orphans and when we should wait. We do have conventional thermometers, but these devices are more sophisticated and can help us ensure the dogs' safety and comfort.

We are asking for 2 units: One for each of our kennel locations. If you are able to donate one (or 2) of these safety tools, we would be incredibly grateful!

SHELTER SHEPHERD OF THE WEEK

Each week, we try our best to feature a shepherd in a shelter that is at high risk. Our rescue is FULL and we are not able to accept any more dogs at this time, but we want to use this platform to share, share, share in the hope that someone can ADOPT or RESCUE this very young dog! He is ONLY 1 YEAR YOUNG!

Check out the new girl in town, Maggie Mae, a knock-out 6 month old. We need DNA to confirm whether MM is a Belgian Mal or a German Shepherd---it's a close call, she could be either or a blend. All we know is that she is 100% wonderful and deserving of a happy, full life in a loving home.

Maggie Mae is here from a distant rural shelter. Due to extreme shelter overcrowding, her young life was due to be extinguished because of space constraints. Although our rescue is full to the gills, we knew that we had to help Maggie Mae. Currently, we are seeking a FOSTER HOME and SPONSORS to help with her care needs! Can you make a small donation to help Maggie Mae with her costs of boarding? She has been staying at our vet for 2 weeks because we did not have space at our kennel. Any gift would be appreciated!
