This opportunity is designed to enhance the educational value of the traditional 4-H swine project by focusing on swine production, accurate record keeping, and industry knowledge and engagement by the 4-H member.

Thankful for these members who helped with our community service project today. These kiddos helped the Community Club pick up trash going south of town. One high school member helped pickup trash going north of town. Our members are awesome and such troopers . I should have taken an after picture to show how wet and sometimes muddy they got. It was a beautiful day and felt so good to give back to our community.

Please note that the Nebraska Extension Service and our own local 4 – H / FFA programs have not cancelled shows and events for 2020. They will still recognize the accomplishments of the 4 – H / FFA youth in Madison County and our board will support them in any way possible through this difficult time. This would include making the facilities of the fairgrounds available to them for any type of virtual, blended, or live display of the efforts and achievements of the youth in our county 4 – H programs and FFA members. Please watch for updates and notifications through the 4 – H Newsletters and e-mails from Nebraska Extension.

It is with great regret and much sadness that we announce that the 2020 Madison County Fair and Rodeo is postponed until July 6 – 11, 2021. Due to circumstances surrounding the COVID – 19 pandemic we have made this very difficult decision. Based on what we know today, large gatherings of people will not be allowed without some type of restrictions. To say that we are very disappointed is an understatement. The full press release will be on our website later today.

Nebraska 4-H and FFA, in consultation with the Nebraska State Fair Livestock Committee, have decided to extend the State Fair livestock nomination deadline from June 15 to July 1. Exhibitors will be required to submit their DNA envelopes to their county Extension offices and have completed their online nomination and payment through ShowStockMGR.com by 11:59 PM CST on July 1, 2020.

We would like to get your thoughts and opinions regarding the 2020 State Horse Show. If you could please fill out the following questionnaire and encourage all other youth, parents, leaders and state horse show volunteers to complete the survey as well. This will give us a feel for what people throughout the state are thinking and wanting regarding the state horse show.
