Asha's Farm Sanctuary

Asha's Farm Sanctuary Compassion for Cows is Universal! Asha's Farm Sanctuary lets the cows tell their story - a very simple one of just wanting to be loved.

Rooted in Apostolic Christian values, we protect majestic cows, preserve biodiversity and serve our community, while encouraging a vegan lifestyle to end suffering.

et cows for the first time and see how friendly, emotional and intelligent they are. They tell us with a loving kiss, a warm nudge, and a still look that captures our hearts and changes our minds forever. Asha's Farm Sanctuary provides refuge to rescued cows including a blind cow and some others with special needs. They all live at our sanctuary in peace and surrounded by love. We provide a safe place where people can meet these cows, establishing long lasting emotional relationships. We believe these human-animal connections will allow people to see these sweet, gentle cows as friends and not food, helping them to make the compassionate decision to go vegan. We help to educate the community on standard practices in the beef and dairy industry that are extremely cruel and the sentient nature of cows through our Meet a Cow, Kiss A Cow Day and COW FEST visitation programs that bring in thousands of people including children every year. We are in the final stages of constructing an Educational Center which includes a commercial kitchen, viewing area for an introductory/educational film on standard practices in animal agriculture, a gift shop, an educational area with books and videos, two bathrooms (one handicap accessible) and two outdoor patios where we will hold various events. Asha's Farm Sanctuary's future vision is to be a safe place for people to enjoy and explore nature by providing hiking trails on our 27 acre preserved forest. We hope you visit us soon!

This loving interaction between Princess Darsha, a blind cow, and Lou Bear, a young steer orphaned at birth, really brings me to tears.

For so long, Lou Bear rejected Darsha because he perceived her as different. Even when the other cows chased him away, and the older steer rejected him.

But as he grew older, Lou Bear began to realize what is truly important.

And that is letting in the ones who really love you and would miss you terribly if you were gone.

I saw that love clearly when Lou Bear recently went to the hospital.

Princess Darsha missed him so deeply while he was away.

Ever since he got back, she has been loving on him constantly, refusing to leave his side.

Their beautiful bond reminds me so much of us as humans.

Just like Lou Bear, we often push away the very love we need, even when we feel isolated and rejected by the world.

Yet, God is always there, loving us unconditionally despite our flaws, our blindness, or our past rejections.

Like Princess Darsha, He is awaits us until we are finally ready to receive His love.

If a gentle cow can show this much devotion, imagine how much more deeply God loves us and longs for us to just rest in His presence.

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.”—Matthew 7:7

In this moment, as I hold Lou Bear, I promise to protect him. He trusts me with all his heart. This young steer will always be safe from harm and slaughter, sheltered by God from the ignorance that often surrounds us. Together, we embody love and compassion, showing that understanding can create a world where every being like this gentle soul is cherished. We show mercy for Lou Bear and cows just like him by adopting a merciful, vegan lifestyle. In turn, our bodies receive life and a new sense of purpose.

This profound mercy and protection are an extension of the way God’s sees all of His children and creation. Just like this gentle steer, we often carry deep hurts, silent fears, and the heavy weight of being completely misunderstood by the world around us. Yet, God sees past the noise and the judgment of others. He loves us unconditionally, exactly the way we are, without requiring us to change to fit human expectations. He looks directly into our hearts and sees our true inner beauty, holding us safe through every storm.

"Your steadfast love, O Lord, extends to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds. How precious is your steadfast love, O God! The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings." — Psalm 36:5, 7

Update on Lou Bear! 🐮 His little scur was hanging on by a thread, but I managed to strategically halter him to spray the area thoroughly, inside and out. It completely fell off the next day!

We had already consulted with Cornell and made the decision to transport him to the hospital to ensure his sinus cavity wasn't infected. The vets said we did a great job immediately protecting his sensitive flesh, and he is already on the road to healing. While he was there, we decided to run a series of tests to ensure everything else is good with him. He is passing with flying colors!

If you would like to contribute toward Lou Bear’s transport and hospital expenses, we would be incredibly grateful.

Expenses are already at a little over $2,000! We need a miracle.

Any donation helps! Donate: https://ashasfarmsanctuary.org

Thank you all for loving Lou Bear!

In this video of Lou Bear, we capture a moment that reflects the deep emotional nature of cows. They are incredibly sensitive beings, capable of forming strong bonds and expressing a wide range of emotions. Lou Bear's longing gaze and gentle approach highlight his need for connection, love, and comfort—something he tragically missed out on after losing his mother at birth.

His search for affection from Tracy, our founder, underscores the profound bond that can exist between humans and animals, especially in sanctuaries where they can find safety and love.

Sadly, many cows like Lou Bear face abuse and neglect in various agricultural practices. They are often treated as mere commodities, stripped of their individuality and emotional needs. This mistreatment can lead to significant physical and psychological suffering, which is wholly unjust for such sentient beings who simply wish to live free from harm and to experience love.

By adopting a vegan lifestyle, we not only refuse to participate in the cycle of cruelty that affects animals like Lou Bear, but we also promote a more compassionate world.

Let's bring attention to Lou Bear and the plight of cows everywhere. Together, we can make a difference.

Many of you have met Tracy the sheep. He’s friendly, loving and often gives our visitors the grand tour if he can. Here he is when we rescued him without even having a barn yet. He was torn away from the friend he was protecting, frightened out of his mind, being laughed at, forced to stand on his back legs, and kicked to the side. I got him out of that horrible situation with the friend he was trying to protect and a dying newborn calf. Today, Tracy is nearly 15 years and still thriving. He is well cared for, loved and family.

—-

The righteous care for the needs of their animals, but the kindest acts of the wicked are cruel.” — Proverbs 12:10.

How we treat the vulnerable—including the animals and creation under our care—is a direct reflection of our heart and character. True righteousness isn’t just about how we treat other humans; it’s about practicing empathy, mercy, and stewardship over everything God created. In the original Hebrew, to “care” or “regard” means to know intimately. A good caretaker doesn’t just avoid causing harm; they actively tune into a creature’s needs, comfort, and well-being. True integrity is how we treat those who can never repay us or speak up for themselves. Let’s remember to reflect the Creator’s mercy in how we treat His creation today. ❤️🌱

A message from Tracy the rescuer:

The cruelty shown in this video is truly heartbreaking, and I completely understand the strong emotions surrounding his treatment. As the person who rescued him, I feel it deeply too. To ensure our comment section reflects our Christ-centered mission, we kindly ask for a respectful community space. Comments containing profanity, hatred, or gender-based blame will be removed. Instead, we welcome discussion that centers on gratitude for his rescue, acknowledgment of the reality of animal abuse, and prayers for mercy and transformed hearts. We can actively live out that mercy today by choosing a vegan lifestyle. The abuse Tracy suffered is not an isolated incident; it is a widespread reality in animal agriculture. In the Garden of Eden, God’s original design was to give us plants for nourishment. By aligning with that inherent design, we honor His creation. God bless you all for your tender, compassionate hearts.

Every life is a masterpiece of divine design. Princess Darsha may not have physical sight, but she reflects the perfect love of the Creator who made her. We often judge by what is missing, but God looks at the beauty within us.

We do not need to be perfect to be cherished; we are already uniquely beautiful and whole in His eyes. As Psalm 139:14 declares, "I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wondertul, I know that full well."

Darsha's journey from danger to the sanctuary is a beautiful reminder that God's grace covers us all, exactly as we are.
