I know I saw some questions regarding how I forsee the updated application process. So, this is what I am thinking. Hope this helps answer questions.
+The Updated Application Process+
When a litter is confirmed, I will first reach out to individuals currently on the existing waitlist. I will continue to do this until the waitlist is eventually dissolved. Those on the list will be given the opportunity to interview for that specific litter and decide whether they would like to accept a spot.
If spots remain available after the waitlist has been contacted, I will then open applications to new families. Preference will be given to local families first, followed by families outside the area if space remains available.
When applications open, I will make an announcement on my page outlining what is available, what I am looking for in potential homes, and how to apply. In most cases, the initial step will simply be sending me a private message with your name, location, and some information about yourself, your lifestyle, and what you are looking for in a Berner.
If it appears that you may be a good fit for that particular litter, I will extend a formal application and continue with the evaluation process. If I do not feel the litter is the right match, I will do my best to explain why and, when possible, discuss other options or future opportunities that may be a better fit.
I also want everyone to know that it is always okay to check in with me throughout the year. In fact, I encourage it. Typically, the best time to reach out is around 3 weeks after puppies are born, as that is usually when I have a better understanding of litter size, sexes, and potential availability.
Moving forward, I am placing more emphasis on families who remain engaged, stay connected, and show a genuine interest in being part of our program. Building relationships with puppy families is important to me, and I appreciate those who take the time to reach out and stay involved.
With the volume of inquiries and the demands of managing a breeding program, I am no longer in a position to continually follow up with or "chase" prospective owners. As a result, I am putting more responsibility in the hands of applicants to stay in touch and express continued interest. If you are hoping for a puppy from a particular litter, I encourage you to be proactive in reaching out, asking questions, and maintaining communication throughout the process.
My goal with this process is to focus less on a static waitlist and more on finding the right homes for the right puppies at the right time, while still honoring those who have patiently remained on the existing list. Ultimately, I want to place my puppies with families who are excited, invested, and committed not only to bringing home a puppy, but also to becoming part of the Stones Edge family for years to come.
