Hi friends… I’m Bubba Biscuit. 🐶💙

I was recently adopted by my AMAZING new mom. Right now, I’m hanging out at Stone Cottage Veterinary Hospital while I go through treatment for heartworm disease. Dr. Fitch and all of the staff are taking such good care of me, but I have to admit… I’d much rather be running around and playing.

Heartworms are spread by mosquitoes, and I didn’t even know I was at risk. Now my treatment means lots of medicine, lots of rest, and lots of patience while my heart and lungs heal.

If I could ask one favor, it would be this: Please make sure your furry friends stay on their monthly heartworm prevention. It’s so much easier to prevent heartworm disease than it is to treat it.

I’m doing my best every day, and I’m so lucky to have a team helping me through this journey. Thank you for cheering me on—I can’t wait to feel like myself again. 🩵

Every veterinary hospital has a little magic… and ours comes with fairy wings. 🧚🐾

Our veterinary assistants are the helping hands behind every appointment, every surgery, every cuddle, and every wagging tail. They comfort nervous pets, support our doctors and technicians, keep our hospital running smoothly, and somehow still find time to make us laugh.

This week, we’re celebrating these incredible women for their compassion, hard work, and the countless ways they make a difference every single day.

🐾 Protecting Your Pets During Smoky Conditions 🌫️🐶🐱

Smoke from the Canadian wildfires can affect more than just people—it can also impact our pets. Even if they seem healthy, poor air quality can make it harder for them to breathe.

Here are a few ways to help keep your furry family members safe:

🌿 Limit time outdoors – Keep walks short and avoid strenuous exercise until air quality improves.

🏡 Stay inside when possible – Keep windows and doors closed, and use air conditioning or an air purifier if you have one.

💧 Provide plenty of fresh water – Staying hydrated can help support your pet’s respiratory system.

😮‍💨 Watch for signs of smoke irritation:
• Coughing
• Sneezing
• Wheezing or noisy breathing
• Eye irritation or excessive tearing
• Lethargy
• Difficulty breathing

❤️ Take extra precautions if your pet is a puppy, kitten, senior, brachycephalic breed (such as Bulldogs, Pugs, or Persian cats), or has heart or lung disease.

🚨 If your pet is struggling to breathe, collapses, or shows severe respiratory distress, seek veterinary care immediately.

Your pet may not be able to tell you the air is bothering them—but they count on you to keep them safe. Stay indoors when you can, and don’t hesitate to give us a call if you’re concerned about your pet’s health.
