🚨 TICK ALERT 🚨

We’re seeing more ticks than we’ve seen in years.

Every day we’re finding ticks on pets, and we’ve heard of multiple people who have recently been diagnosed with Lyme disease diagnoses in our community.

Fun fact: Most of the ticks we’re finding aren’t deep in the woods… they’re in backyards. 👀

Tick-borne diseases aren’t just a problem for humans. They can affect our pets, too!

Now is a great time to make sure your pet is protected with veterinarian-recommended flea and tick prevention.

🎉 BIG NEWS! 🎉

After years of growth and support from this incredible community, we’re excited to share that PetCare of Newberry will soon be expanding… (and yes, that means a bigger parking lot 😉 )!

As we prepare for this next chapter, we are beginning to accept resumes for current and future opportunities, including kennel technicians, veterinary assistants, licensed veterinary technicians, client service representatives, social media stars and even veterinarians who are passionate about animal care.

We’re not quite ready to share all the details yet, but we’ve been working hard behind the scenes and can’t wait to show you what’s next.

🚨 RABIES ALERT IN SOUTH CAROLINA 🚨

In the last week, THREE separate rabies cases have been confirmed right here in our state.

The South Carolina Department of Public Health has confirmed:
• A rabid raccoon in Aiken County (1 person exposed)
• A rabid raccoon in Lancaster County (3 dogs exposed)
• A rabid skunk in Lexington County (1 dog exposed)

That’s multiple counties, multiple exposures, and both people AND pets affected… all within days.

💡 Here’s what you need to know:
• Rabies is 100% fatal once symptoms start
• It spreads through saliva (bites, scratches, open wounds, mucous membranes)
• Wildlife like raccoons and skunks are some of the most common carriers in our region

🐾 Protect your pets (and your family):
✔ Keep your pets’ rabies vaccines up to date (this is HUGE)
✔ Avoid contact with wild or stray animals
✔ Call animal control if you see an animal acting strangely

If you think your pet may have been exposed, call your veterinarian IMMEDIATELY.

We’re not sharing this to scare you… but this is your reminder that rabies is still very real and very close to home.
