💥 WELCOME TO THE TEAM DR. KATIE GORICKI 💥

Dr. Goricki graduated from Dominican University of California with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and went on to complete her DVM at Michigan State University College of Veterinary Medicine. During her time in veterinary school, she was the Wet Lab Coordinator for the student chapter of AAEP and the Vice President of the Integrative Medicine Club. During her clinical year, Dr. Goricki completed externships at several veterinary practices, including prestigious Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, KY, and the Equine Veterinary Hospital of Northern Indiana. She worked for board-certified theriogenologist Amanda Ragon, DVM at Equine Fertility Specialties in Williamston, MI, throughout veterinary school and after, learning and performing advanced reproductive techniques she is excited to share with the Oakhurst Team.

After graduation, Dr. Goricki worked as an associate veterinarian at Kern Road Veterinary Clinic in Fowlerville, MI. Dr. Goricki has been passionate about horses her whole life and worked professionally in various aspects of the equine industry prior to pursuing veterinary school. She has her USDF Bronze medal and rides and competes in dressage on her Lusitano gelding.

Dr. Goricki resides with her husband, their son, and two cats. In her free time when she isn’t horsing around, she enjoys hiking, cooking and baking, and spending time with her family. Originally from California, Dr. Goricki looks forward to returning to the West Coast and joining the Oakhurst team!

Dr. Goricki starts getting her feet wet here with the Oakhurst Team August 17th, and will be begin seeing appointments the week of August 31st!

We are excited to welcome our 2026/2027 Equine Veterinary Intern Dr. Grace Rihs to the Oakhurst Family!

Dr. Rihs' love for horses began at a young age when she started riding at eight years old in Zelienople, Pennsylvania, following in the footsteps of her mother, who also grew up riding. She spent most of her young life riding low-level hunter/jumper, and after shadowing a local veterinarian in high school, knew I wanted to become an equine veterinarian.

Dr. Rihs attended and received her DVM from Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts. After her immediate family relocated to the area (Eugene), she knew Oregon was a place she wanted to be, and we are beyond thrilled she chose to be in Newberg with the Oakhurst Team.

Outside of work, you can find Dr. grace spending time outdoors and seeking some nice hiking spots to explore with her cat. Yes, her cat goes hiking. 😁

She also enjoys reading thriller and horror novels, crafting, and watching reality shows.

Dr. Rihs can currently be found working alongside our talented group of Veterinarians. In the months ahead, she will begin shared on-call emergency rotations and solo appointments.

We are honored to have Dr. Rihs kicking off her career journey at Oakhurst and we look forward to introducing her to you and your animals!

SEASONAL *** PART-TIME *** GROOM POSITION

We are getting ready to open up our seasonal training program and we are bursting at the seams! We need help!

We need:
Ambitious equine fanatic seeking experience in hands-on breaking and training of thoroughbred juveniles.

Duties to include: Horse handling, turn out. bathing, tacking, tack cleaning & care, laundry, medications, grooming and anything else needed to assist the riders including but not limited to lunging and ground-assisting riders. Ability and or interest in track maintenance is a bonus! (Tractor driving)

You must be:
Be an early riser, have reliable transportation, and be to work by 6AM M-F July 6 - Aug 28 (or the substantial majority of those days). Hours will vary . . .a little longer at the start, and less later. Early days may be 8-10 hours. Later in the summer, more likely 6-7.

You must be confident and punctual. The horses and your co-workers will feed off your positive energy. No smoking facility. No drugs. Must be able to pass a background check.

You must enjoy physical, hot, dusty, sweaty labor. You must be able to physically stand, walk, carry equipment and more for the majority of the day.

Have horse experience, know-how and dedication to the animal, and take direction well. Close and accurate communication with our riders and the equines is paramount. While we appreciate there are multiple ways of doing things, we prefer our tried-and-true methods that have resulted in multiple WA & OR Champions and winners from OR-WA-CA-AZ-TX-OK-KY, BC (Canada) and more over the last four decades.

This should NOT be your first horse encounter, as these youngsters are way more fiery than your grandpas retired Reiner.

This is NOT a riding position. For those in the back . . .this is NOT a riding position.

$20/hour. Eligible for Paid Time Off accrual.

JOB OPENING ANNOUNCEMENT

Oakhurst Thoroughbreds, the Farm side of Oakhurst Equine and Oakhurst Equine Veterinary Services has an immediate opening for one of the rarest of rare openings at our facility. . . .We are looking for the Swiss Army Knife of personnel, a Farm Laborer, Maintenance & Landscaper. . . .but not just anyone. Someone that wants to share their love and passion for outdoors, horses, and tidy upkeep. Someone who thrives on work, sweat, tired bones and achy muscles. Someone who takes pride and treats others as family, works tirelessly for the goal of the common good, and is looking for a career, not a pit-stop. (Our main folks in these roles have been here 20+ years!)

More about the Role:

Primary Responsibilities include cleaning stalls (straw), feeding, watering, turn-out, light grooming. Afternoon duties may include fence repair, weeding, mowing, landscaping, painting, pressure washing and more. Seasonal and special projects include putting up hay, track maintenance, barn repairs, and more.
40-48 Hours per Week
UPDATED: Generally, Tuesday - Saturday

More about You:
This is a physical job. You are MOVING quickly and efficiently, tossing grain sacks, hay bales, and straw on a regular and consistent basis. On your feet or a tractor all day. You handle horses, drive tractors, work with farm animals and deal with the rain, snow, and heat as it comes. You have reliable transportation to get here on the hard days. Horses need to eat when its icy, and we have to get them watered and cool when its 100+.
You MUST have horse experience and be comfortable and knowledgeable when it comes to colic, abscesses, thoroughbreds, stallions, and foals.
You MUST have some basic knowledge in safe and appropriate operation of small farm tractors and implements.
You MUST have an eye for detail and care about safe working conditions and safe horse protocols to include general knowledge of horse ailments.

Must be:
Authorized to work in the US
Able to understand verbal and written English

Reports to:
Farm Foreman & Farm/Practice Manager
