AHS-Newark is a non-profit, humane society serving numerous counties in the state. We provide animal control services, humane education & animal adoption/surrender services & animal cruelty investigations. We have a veterinary clinic on premises to treat client & shelter animals. We also operate a low cost Mobile Spay/Neuter van. We are opened seven days a week from 9:00am-6:00pm. Our adoption hou

rs are 12:00-5:00 seven days a week. All interested parties must complete an adoption application as the first step in the adoption process. All prospective adopters must present a valid driver's license, proof of home ownership or, if you are a renter, a copy of your lease or notarized letter from your landlord stating that pets are allowed on the premises. We accept all major credit cards, debit cards and cash.

Our Story

AHS-Newark is a non-profit, humane society serving numerous counties in the state. We provide animal control services, humane education & animal adoption/surrender services & animal cruelty investigations. We also operate a low cost Mobile Unit for Spay/Neuter/Wellness which services nearby municipalities. For further information, call 973-824-7080. We are opened Tuesday- Sunday from 9:00am-5:00pm. Our adoption hours are 12:00-4:00 (Tues-Sun). All interested parties must complete an adoption application as the first step in the adoption process. There is an adoption fee of $200.00 dog. Cat adoption fees are $100.00 for kittens under 1 year and $65.00 for cats over 6 months. All animals will receive all shots, spay/neuter, testing, microchip identification and flea/tick treatment. All prospective adopters must present a valid driver's license, proof of home ownership or, if you are a renter, a copy of your lease or notarized letter from your landlord stating that pets are allowed on the premises. We accept all major credit cards, debit cards and cash. No checks will be accepted.
