In Loving Memory of Tracy
It is with profound sadness that I am writing to inform the Charlie's Treats family of the passing of our beloved team member Tracy, who recently lost her year-long battle with brain cancer.
I have written and rewritten this announcement a dozen times and it still will not do justice to the immeasurable impact Tracy had on my life and Charlie's Treats. She was not just an employee, she was my best friend and neighbor for many years. Tracy was my biggest cheerleader, my confidant, and my rock. Her impact on my life can't be summed up in a few sentences, but I will try.
Many of you will know Tracy from the farmer's markets and craft shows, or the friendly face behind the counter at the bakery. She would have her family in-tow, smiling as brightly as ever (despite the heat, or the rain or me forgetting to charge the credit card reader). Her favorite album might have been AC/DC's Back in Black, but she always brought the sunshine.
Tracy was there from concept to completion of the bakery buildout in Georgetown. When we moved in the first day, she schooled me on how to "properly" clean a commercial kitchen. There has never been a better spokesperson for Windex than Tracy - "it can clean anything." Every day we finish at the bakery I am reminded of her.
My favorite memory is every morning at the bakery we would make Folgers coffee (always with Delight French Vanilla creamer) and stand at the counter and chat. It had to be Folgers and she insisted on using bottled water in the coffeemaker because she said it tasted better than tap water. It was those quiet, chilly morning in an empty bakery that I will miss the most. Despite her living across the hall and seeing each other almost every day, we never ran out of things to talk about. Tracy was simply the best.
Tracy would often joke about losing Employee of the Month over silly things, despite it being just the two of us. But we both knew that she wasn't just the Employee of the Month - she was the Best Employee Ever.
Love you lots, Tracy.
