A BACKYARD IS NOT A PRISON ๐
They say that some dogs are just "outdoor animals" meant for country living, but there is a vast, cruel difference between a farm dog with freedom and an animal bound to a heavy iron chain. Across various states, it remains entirely legal to keep a dog tethered to a stake or a porch day in and day out, left completely exposed to the elements. They endure the blistering heat of the summer sun, the terrifying crash of thunderstorms, and the numbing freeze of winter snow without any escape.
Dogs are deeply social pack animals; their brains are wired to seek connection, companionship, and safety beside their human families. Forcing them into solitary confinement on a six-foot patch of dirt drives them to severe psychological distress, anxiety, and despair. A backyard should be a safe space to play, not a lifetime prison sentence. We must demand a strict federal anti-tethering standard that completely outlaws unsupervised, long-term chaining. A living soul should never be treated like a piece of neglected yard decoration.
