Is Vinegar Bad for Cats?๐ธ
โNo, vinegar is NOT considered toxic to cats.
However, that does NOT mean it is completely safe.
Because vinegar is acidic, it can cause:
โข Mouth irritation
โข Drooling
โข Vomiting
โข Mild stomach upset
if a cat licks or drinks too much of it.
What about the smell? ๐ก
The smell of vinegar is not toxic, but most cats strongly dislike it. Strong vinegar odors can make some cats stressed, uncomfortable, or cause them to avoid the area.
โ
If you use vinegar for cleaning:
โข Dilute it with water
โข Keep cats away while cleaning
โข Let surfaces dry completely before allowing your cat back
๐ซ Never use vinegar as a home remedy for fleas, skin problems, digestive issues, or urinary problems in cats.
