🥁Let’s get that drum roll going! 🥁
Congratulations to Nox, who was ADOPTED! Nox is such a sweetheart who loves to play ball (like REALLY loves to play ball. She will play fetch all day if you let her!). She is loving her new family, which includes cats, playing fetch at the lake and everything in between. Nox also knows how to co-exist with dinosaurs so you never know when that will be useful. Let’s give a big shout out to Nox and a special thanks to Afton, also a Sedona volunteer for successfully fostering this sweetheart. GO NOX!

Last week Sedona Shepherd received Koda, a sweet 9-year-old GSD from ACCT Philly . When she arrived at our foster home, Koda was tired and just happy to be in a soft bed. It was clear that she was having issues breathing and was not interested in eating food. Koda had a full physical performed by our vet and the next day needed to be admitted to an emergency vet. Koda was still not eating, which was making it impossible for her to take her antibiotic medication.

After 2 days of IV antibiotics and fluids, Koda has returned to her foster home. Koda is getting the best care possible, enticing her to eat baby food and monitoring the intake of her anti-biotics. Koda has made strides with her health since being admitted to the emergency vet, but the road to a full bill of health will be longer than we expected.

As you can imagine the medical bills, (which includes the two days at an emergency vet and tomorrow ultrasound for her abdominal area to see if it is more than the pneumonia causing the lack of eating) are much higher than anticipated for her care.

Sweet Sasha loves spending time with Sedona volunteers. This girl enjoys long walks, being with her people and of course, she loves a good game of fetch. Sasha adores all humans, big and small.

🥁DRUM ROLL PLEASE!🥁
Y’all know what that means by now! That’s right, WE HAVE AN ADOPTION IN THE HOUSE! Handsome Buddy has been adopted! That’s right, he found his people! He has settled into his new home like he’s been there forever! He takes naps in his mom’s office, he loves going to the park 3 times a day, and of course, he loves attention! Let’s all wish Buddy a happy life!

It is with utter heartbreak that we announce the passing of our beautiful girl, Hanna. Hanna joined Sedona's Forever Foster Friends program on January 25, 2025, along with her life-long companion, Kylie. She came into our home that day, and we instantly fell in love with this amazing and gorgeous girl.
Hanna was the sweetest dog. Every morning she would gently awaken us and Kylie with a boop of her nose. Her occasional choruses of barking with Kylie always made us laugh. Hanna was so affectionate. She would bop her head against your hand to get pets. She loved to curl up on the couch with us. She wasn't shy about squirming between us! She had such a lovely smile, and she made everyone smile in turn. You could take Hanna anywhere, and she was always friendly and sociable. Hanna loved adventures in the car. A true Shepherd, she would go anywhere as long as she could be with you. She was a typical velcro dog.

Hanna was the very best sister. As Kylie's eyesight worsened due to diabetes, Hanna stepped in and acted as her guide dog. Although Hanna never growled, she quietly protected her best friend. They played together, laid together, and would drink from the same bowl at the same time. They shared everything, and everything they did was in synchrony. Even though Hanna had twenty pounds on her, she was always happy to let Kylie be in charge. If love had an earthly form, it would look like our Hanna girl.

Hanna was gentle, friendly, and loving. And, she was deeply loved by all who knew her. She passed suddenly on July 21st of a neurological event. She was able to hear the voices of those who loved her. We were with her, and her beloved Kylie was with her. We will never forget watching Kylie lie down with her sister one last time. Sedona Shepherd really goes above and beyond for all of their dogs, even in their final moments.

In the six months she was with us, Hanna became the heart of our home. And all of us, especially Kylie, feel lost without her.

We are so very grateful to Sedona for providing safe harbor to these beautiful girls. Thank you for letting us be a part our beautiful Hanna's journey.

We miss you, Hanna girl. We've got your Kylie. You can rest easy.
