At Animal Care Centers of NYC (ACC), the safety of our animals and community comes first. Recently, fraudulent actors attempted to misuse our new hope pre-screener application process by creating fake accounts, submitting false applications, and even harassing legitimate applicants.

To stop this, we have implemented additional screening checks and are now working with cybersecurity company CHEQ to safeguard our New Hope pre-screener process.

When submitting the pre-screener form, the applicant must now complete a simple digital verification process. This process is similar to the verification process used by banks and other institutions to affirm digital identity.

We know how important it is to trust the pre-screener process and know you’re working directly with ACC. CHEQ is now part of that protection.

➡️ To fill out the pre-screener: always use links provided directly on our official channels. ACC will never ask you to DM a private account or send money through unofficial channels.

Thank you for helping us protect people and pets. Together, we’re building a safer, more trustworthy system for NYC’s animals.

Welcome to our new series, A Day in the Life, where we highlight different roles of the ACC team.

Every day, our medical team shows up for NYC’s most vulnerable animals. From intake exams to life-saving surgeries, they do it all with compassion, skill, and love. No matter who walks (or hops!) through our doors, they’re in good hands.

Thank you to for always making NYC shelter pets feel safe, loved, and cared for. Their mission reminds us that an animal’s emotional well-being is just as important as their physical health, especially for those who have faced hardship before arriving at our doors.

Their most recent drop-off included 112 beds, 125 tug toys, 300 catnip toys, and rabbit treats. We’re so grateful to Pillows for Paws volunteers who make this possible!

🚨 SCAM ALERT 🚨
Two individuals are misusing our placement process for at-risk dogs by encouraging people to submit fake applications and provide false information. Dogs were transported to people who never appeared or were immediately rehomed without the pulling organization’s knowledge. Some legitimate applicants have reported harassment or threats for not participating, and we’ve even received allegations that people are being charged money to complete fraudulent applications.

To keep people and pets safe, ACC has temporarily disabled our pre-screener form.

The actions of these two individuals and the steps we need to take due to their malfeasance may result in less dogs being placed. However, we are working to ensure this does not happen.

We are asking the public to please be aware of the following:
✅ Only applications from approved New Hope partners will be accepted
✅ Communicate only with official ACC email accounts that end in .org in the email. ACC will NEVER ask you to DM a private account

As necessary, we will report these incidents to the NYPD and NY Attorney General.
📌 If contacted: do not engage, report the account, and send screenshots to [email protected].
