Poppy, Pretzel, Felicia & Diego ❣️

πŸ•πŸ• A few months after my husband and I adopted our dog Poppy, she began displaying reactivity to new people and dogs. On walks, she would lunge at other dogs, try to jump on people, and would growl with her hackles raised. The behavior made walking her a stressful daily occurrence.

πŸ•πŸ• We had tried working with other trainers, but for various reasons the training methods were not yielding results even after months of work.

πŸ•πŸ• We came across Rachel on a walk with both our dogs, Poppy and Pretzel, and were immediately impressed with how calm and collected Rachel was while interacting with Poppy. Poppy used to not calm down around strangers, but within 5 minutes of meeting Rachel she was going up to her and taking treats from her hand.

πŸ•πŸ• We ended up hiring Rachel for an initial session to learn dog psychology, and that’s all we needed to see immediate and lasting results. Poppy no longer lunges at every dog we pass and instead ignores them or expresses some positive curiosity. She almost never reacts to people on walks now. She is also much better with guests at our apartment and calms down more quickly.

πŸ•πŸ• A huge credit for this improvement goes to the dog psychology aspect of Rachel’s training. Rachel guided us through how to manage ourselves around our dogs and lead them with confidence. It’s changed our relationship with our dogs for the better.

πŸ•πŸ• Poppy and Pretzel are no longer trying to lead or figure out how to respond to other dogs and people. Instead, they are looking to us for guidance and cues on how they should behave. It’s a game changer and has turned walks into a fun bonding experience rather than a chore. πŸ•πŸ•πŸ€πŸ–€πŸ€πŸ–€

I cannot recommend Rachel enough! She worked wonders with my new rescue pup Petunia, who used to be so fearful and anxious on walks.

Rachel's approach, rooted in a deep understanding of dog psychology, helped build Petunia's confidence and eliminated her leash pulling habits. Before training, Petunia would tremble in fear, but now she walks with ease. She also helped build my confidence as an owner to lead her calmly and confidently!

Rachel's patience and clear communication made our training enjoyable and effective.

I am so incredibly grateful for her expertise, and I highly recommend her to anyone seeking a skilled and compassionate dog trainer!

Honey is the light of my life, the apple of my eye... When I first adopted her, she had some behavioral problems that Rachel's trenchant insights into dog psychology and optimal dog care helped me alleviate.

Honey had once been a stray dog living in Puerto Rico and she never had much of a home outside of her brief stay with her foster family before she came to me. She did not know how to walk on a leash and was not comfortable doing so.

Rachel helped me find the appropriate leash to guide Honey in the right direction. Rachel also very generously invited me to go on several pack walks with her charming brood of dogs. Honey learned how to go on normal dog walks from the other dogs and from the gentle guidance I was able to give her under Rachel's direction.

Leaving Honey by herself at home was also a major issue. Rachel made me aware of how my own exorbitant anxiety bled onto Honey and I consequently strived to keep my calm around Honey. Rachel advised me to leave her everyday, in her separation anxiety training and I had not been doing so beforehand. Now Honey can handily stay on her own for four hours or more if I need to leave her. When I return, she is cool as a cucumber when before I joined up with Rachel she would destroy my apartment and urinate on places like my bed.

Another way that Rachel helped us was with the basics of dog supplies. I had thought I had prepared adequately for Honey but there were many things I still needed: a f***y pack, proper identification, food that Honey liked and would eat (she didn't eat much during her first week or so with me), etc. This may sound minor but having the right supplies was instrumental in habituating Honey to her new life with me.

I can't thank Rachel enough for supporting me during the most difficult days of my journey with Honey, for always making time for me both via phone and in person and for knowing so darn much about how to take care of dogs!

Nemmy, Liz & Adeel

I was pet sitting, Nemmy for 2 weeks. She is the sweetest dog inside, but outside she was reactive on the leash.

Everything scared her: bikes, kids, adults, sounds, other dogs and even riding in the car. She would pull so hard while barking incessantly and lunging towards everyone. I was at a loss because I wanted her to meet our neighbors and friends but I couldn’t introduce her without her reacting. Neighbors would walk across the street instead of walking past us because she was so intense. I knew it would be difficult for me to get through her stay unless I had some guidance. I called Rachel and she was able to fit me into her schedule.

When I say Rachel helped me turn this beautiful soul around, I mean to the point that my neighbors thought she was a different dog! πŸ’₯
They were astounded that in such a short period of time and with the right direction, Nemmy was happily walking with me while heeling without any reaction.

Rachel taught me about dog psychology, how to remain calm and confident, all the while guiding Nemmy to see the world isn’t so scary. Rachel was patient, encouraging, and helped me understand Nemmy. Once I did, our relationship shifted.
πŸ’ͺ🏻
She trusted me to be her leader which gave her the confidence to walk on the leash without reacting. She no longer felt nervous or the need to β€œprotect” me while outside. She rode in the car, went to work with me, met new dog and human friends. She became the dog I knew she could be.
πŸ‘ŠπŸ»
Our time together flew by! I absolutely adore Nemmy and look forward to her stays without any hesitation. Rachel not only helped Nemmy, but she changed my approach to dogs.

Highly recommend, Rachel!
