PREVIOUS INFO:

***WAS ADOPTED 8/3/24***

Client explained that he does not have any sort of certain or suspected moving date because he lives with his mother, who is the head of household and therefore the one working through the lease plans, but the two have been struggling to communicate. He has described her as absent both physically and in terms of communication. He didn't want to have the cats (Oswald and Chloe) to have nowhere to go when this took place.

For more information on adopting from the NYC AC&C, or to find a rescue to assist, please read the following:
If you are local to NYC, and within 3-4 hrs of NYS and NJ and you are SERIOUS about adopting or fostering one of the animals at NYC ACC, please follow the instructions here or message our FB page with our experienced volunteers that will do their best to guide you through the process.
* We highly discourage everyone from trusting strangers that send them Facebook messages, offering help, for it has ended in truly tragic events.*

If you can get to the shelters in NYC:
(212) 788-4000 (wait through the prompts to reach a live person)
Unfortunately we had to remove all the hyperlinks to their websites to see if this was the reason our posts kept getting flagged from FB. The one main link will bring you to many of the ACC outlets of their page such as what we have posted below.

Emergency At Risk Placement list, Emergency outcome list, Location and Hours, List of New Hope shelter rescue partners - You will have to navigate through their site. If you type in nycacc (with out the and) .org all in one word into your browser it should take you onto their main site. You will have to navigate through their site depending what you are looking for. Unfortunately we can't do it here as it creates the direct hyperlink to their site which may be the cause of our posts being flagged by FB. We hope this solves the issue for us.

Email - [email protected]

***IMPORTANT*** PLEASE READ IN REGARDS TO SCAMMERS.
Please DO NOT send in any pledges UNLESS this PAGE has made the official update. You will know if it's legit by looking at the top header of our page with the rescue information following a donation link to the rescues site or paypal information. We also post the update on the threads but we do ask for all safety purposes to make sure the HEADER matches the comment line. The HEADER is what's most important to follow since only an admins has access to edit info on this page and make those notations. Sadly many scammers claim they have pulled the cat and post a bogus paypal. Please beware. If you suspect someone is posting a scam post please notify us via DM. Thank you

*** A volunteer writes:
Panda is a big bear of a cat who fills his whole den with seventeen pounds of silverish awesomeness. His eyes are two green golden lights looking so surprised as I lift the door to his hide out. Hi Panda, I want to be your friend....Panda is a bit taken aback at first but unhurriedly sinks onto his den's floor, leans into pets, purrs and very slowly opens and closes his magnificent eyes as I speak to him. Panda appears very shy and calm but I sense that a lot of wonderful traits are just waiting to express themselves when he feels safer in the shelter environment. He is really a gorgeous kitty and I love to caress his thick and silky coat. Panda, a ten year old senior, came with his friend Simba as his family moved to a far away country, unable to take their pets with them. We are hoping that Panda's beauty and goodness will turn your head, warm up your heart and give him a loving place in your home. Come and meet him very soon at the Manhattan Care Center. ***

BEHAVIOR:
What my friends at ACC say about me:
* I am finding the shelter a little overwhelming, but when it's just you and me and some peace and quiet you'll see what a love bug I am.
* I am looking for a home with a patient person.
* I can be slow to adjust to new environments. I prefer to take things at my own pace.
* I was dumped with my best bud Simba (217326), and we would love to find our furever home together.

More distant adopters can meet the transport van, (i.e. a NC or VA adopter could meet in MD or DC, or an OH adopter could meet in PA).

ABOUT KITTENS: Kittens under 8 wks old & under 2 lbs, due to fragility are NOT PUBLICLY ADOPTABLE. They can only be pulled by a rescue group for specially-trained, pre-approved kitten foster homes in NY, NJ & CT.

ABOUT PLEDGES: Pledges are paid directly to the 501(c)3 RESCUE that pulls the cat. The Rescue Donation link (if known) will be posted for pledges to be honored. Pledges do not guarantee that a cat's life will be saved but it may help a rescue decide if they can pull the cat and cover his/her medical needs, vetting expenses.

ABOUT US : MLC is a 100% volunteer run page. We can help facilitate a rescue, by connecting you with a 501c3 RESCUE. Must Love Cats is NOT a rescue, nor are we affiliated with any of the NYC ACC shelters.
