🎆 Happy Fourth of July from all of us at North Memorial Animal Hospital! ❤️🤍💙

As you celebrate with family and friends, don't forget that the holiday can be one of the most stressful days of the year for our pets.

Here are a few tips to help keep them safe:
🐾 Keep pets indoors during fireworks, as loud noises can cause fear and anxiety.
🐾 Make sure collars and ID tags are secure in case they become startled and try to escape.
🐾 Provide a quiet, comfortable space with their favorite blanket or toy.
🐾 Keep barbecue foods, alcohol, and fireworks out of reach, as many holiday items can be dangerous to pets.

We hope you and your furry family members have a fun, safe, and relaxing Independence Day. Thank you for trusting us with your pets, we're grateful to be part of this wonderful community.

It's hot out there!
🌡️ Heat Stroke Can Turn Deadly in Minutes 🐾

As temperatures rise, it's important to remember that our pets are much more vulnerable to heat than we are. Dogs can develop heat stroke quickly, and it is a true medical emergency.

Watch for these warning signs:
🐶 Excessive panting or drooling
❤️ Rapid heartbeat
🔴 Bright red gums or tongue
😔 Weakness, stumbling, or collapse
🤢 Vomiting or diarrhea
😵 Confusion or unresponsiveness

💙 Help protect your pet by:
✔️ Providing plenty of fresh water
✔️ Making sure they always have access to shade
✔️ Limiting exercise during the hottest parts of the day
✔️ Never leaving them in a parked vehicle, even for a few minutes
✔️ Remembering that hot pavement can burn sensitive paw pads

If you suspect your pet is suffering from heat stroke:
❄️ Move them to a cool area.
💧 Offer small amounts of cool (not ice-cold) water if they are alert.
🩺 Begin cooling them with cool water and a fan if possible.
📞 Seek veterinary care immediately. Even if your pet seems to improve, heat stroke can continue to cause life-threatening internal damage.

A little prevention goes a long way. Stay cool, stay hydrated, and help keep your four-legged family members safe this summer! ☀️🐾

🎉 Please Join Us in Welcoming Dr. Graham to Our Team! 🎉

We are excited to announce that Dr. Graham will begin seeing patients on Tuesday, June 2nd

With an incredible 41 years of veterinary experience, Dr. Graham brings a wealth of knowledge and compassion to our hospital. One of his favorite areas of veterinary medicine is dentistry, and he looks forward to helping our patients maintain healthy, happy smiles.
When he's not caring for pets, Dr. Graham enjoys fishing, gardening, cooking, and spending time outdoors. Most importantly, he treasures time with his wife of 37 years, Debbie, their four children, their spouses, and their four granddaughters.

We feel very fortunate to have Dr. Graham joining our team and know that our patients and clients will appreciate his experience, kindness, and dedication to animal care.

Be sure to say hello and give Dr. Graham a warm welcome when you see him in the hospital! 🐾❤️
