Sterling Hill Stables Our specialty is using basic dressage principles to improve balance and communication between horse and rider in any discipline. Beginners Welcome!

Sterling Hill Stables offers riding lessons and training to the Berks/Lehigh county area. We offer an indoor arena located in New Tripoli for lessons on one of our school horses or trailer-ins, full care board and training board. Discounts available for students and lesson/training packages available for multiple lessons. Natasha Rutherford is a USDF Bronze medalist and graduate of Delaware Valley

University with a BS in Large Animal Science specializing in Equine studies and 20+ years teaching experience, including teaching flatwork and jumping skills at Del Val upon graduation. Natasha's goal is a balanced horse and rider combination, specializing in improving communication and overall performance in any discipline using basic dressage principles. We bring students to a variety of shows throughout the year including USDF dressage shows, youth team dressage, local dressage, hunter/jumper, and horse trials.

Sport Horse Conformation Clinic with Anne Moss

Join us for a comprehensive Sport Horse Conformation Clinic with dressage judge Anne Moss (USEF "R" Dressage Judge, Western Dressage Judge and “R” Sport Horse Judge) where we’ll explore how conformation influences biomechanics and performance. This interactive clinic will consist of three key parts:

1. Classroom Session: Understanding Conformation & Biomechanics

We'll break down Sport Horse conformation and how it relates to movement and performance. She’ll lead a “Let’s Go Shopping” exercise to help participants evaluate conformation strengths and weaknesses—an invaluable tool for selecting and developing sport horses.

Anne Moss will also introduce Harmony Lines, using a marked-up photo of her own less-than-perfect horse for demonstration—ideal for visual learners! Bonus: Bring a printed side-view photo of your own horse to analyze and discuss ways to optimize its potential.

2. Hands-On Conformation Assessment
Participants will observe conformation assessments performed on the in-hand triangle, using a range of demo horses:
✔️ Mature Horse
✔️ Yearling
✔️ Two-Year-Old
✔️ Four-Year-Old
✔️ Five-Year-Old

This session will highlight how conformation evolves with age and how to assess a horse’s future potential.

3. Under Saddle: Sample Materiale Class
Finally, we’ll see how conformation translates to movement under saddle with a sample Materiale Class, offering valuable insights into how structure influences performance in motion.
