Tonight was a big night for our shelter as we worked alongside the New Tazewell Police Department and Animal Control to help an individual who had become overwhelmed caring for their animals.

Together, we welcomed 25 cats, 1 sugar glider, 4 rabbits, and 1 dog into our care. While many of the cats have fleas and a few are showing signs of upper respiratory infections, they appear to be in relatively good condition overall. They are now safe, warm, and settling in for the night.

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the New Tazewell Police Department, Tazewell Police Department and Animal Control for their compassion, teamwork, and assistance in making sure every animal was transported safely and comfortably. We truly couldn’t do this work without community partners like them.

Tomorrow, we’ll be reaching out with specific needs and asking for foster homes to help us care for this unexpected influx of animals. If you’ve ever considered fostering, now is a wonderful time to make a difference. Every foster home opens up space and gives these animals the individual care they deserve as they begin their next chapter.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support our mission. Because of this community, these animals have a safe place to land and a brighter future ahead. ❤️🐾

Today, the Claiborne County Animal Shelter joins our community in mourning the tragic passing of County Mayor Joe Brooks.

Mayor Brooks genuinely loved Claiborne County and dedicated his life to serving this community. He was also a faithful supporter of our shelter, always willing to attend our events, support our fundraisers, and encourage our mission.

We are grateful for his kindness, generosity, and unwavering support. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.

Rest in peace, Mayor Brooks. You will be greatly missed. ❤️

We have had a wonderful blessing today from Shiloh Church youth group. They have brought donations as well as will be doing some much needed garden area tidying and animal socializing.
