It’s with an overwhelming heaviness in our hearts and tears in our eyes that we share the passing of our Baycon.

Despite the very best efforts, Baycon did not respond to treatments in the way we had hoped or expected. He had an incredibly rough night and made no progression at all. He sustained more internal and neurological injuries than was initially believed. His pain was unmanageable and he began having seizures that were not able to be controlled.

In the early hours of Wednesday, the decision was made to allow Baycon to leave our earth peacefully and with as much dignity as possible. Our hearts are completely shattered. 💔

We want to thank every one of you for your constant support and understanding during this incredibly difficult time.

Our Baycon had a pretty traumatic run in with two dogs and is currently receiving care at the New Bolton Emergency Medical Center. We are quite hopeful that he will be good as new with time, but he is pretty roughed up right now. At this time, we are unsure as to the extent of treatment he will need or the amount of time he will need to remain in their care. They are pumping him with much needed fluids, pain medications and antibiotics to get him feeling well while they work on getting him fixed up. The goal is that fluids and meds will get him home as soon as possible, but we should have a better timeline in the morning after seeing how he responds to everything throughout the night.

Livi’s Piggies is 100% privately funded and Baycon will be receiving every bit of care needed. While we do not know the total cost of treatment at this time, they did require a hefty deposit and we are preparing for the worst case scenario while Baycon is on the mend. ❤️‍🩹

Since the weather has been nicer, Julian has claimed this tree (in one of the few dry spots) to sun himself. He has the soil patted down JUST right and he smushes his butt right up against the tree. Him and I were having a nice conversation and trying to get some selfies, but Stinky was having a bout of jealousy and interrupted with some kisses. 😘 He then proceeded to lay down on top of my legs demanding cuddles, so after I pulled myself from under him he got just that and some belly scratches too!

Yesterday, the day was spent cleaning up as much as we could before today’s rain continues to drown everything out some more. Between the snow, ice and rain storms over the past weeks, it’s a swamp out here… which means EVERYTHING has mud on it, in it and around it. 🙄 While the pigs don’t seem to mind for the most part, it’s incredibly hard for us to do just about everything that needs done. Every time the ground starts to harden and we get things in order… here comes more precipitation! 🌧

Also, please excuse all the selfies… I was enjoying the weather and definitely feeling myself. 😂🙈

FINALLY! I finally caught (kind of… not really, but close enough) Julian’s party trick! 🎉

Have you ever seen a pig that can camouflage?! Well, now you have! 🤣🐷🙈 “Now you see me, now you don’t” - The Magic Man (If you know, you know… 🤷🏼‍♀️)

Ever since Julian first joined us, he’s ALWAYS walked around with a mouthful of straw. Kind of like a teddy bear. We’ve always said he was hiding from us and as time has gone on, I truly believe that this was his intentions. For the longest time, he would only drop his straw if he was running away from us or if we spooked him. Now, he only holds it long enough to identify the threat and once he realizes that it’s just us, he drops it without hesitation. 🥰

Now if only I would have caught him hollering today… 🙄 He gives us some “leave me alone” grunts and groans when he’s done socializing, but that’s really about it. Let me just tell you, this one has a set of lungs on him! I had a situation I had to tend to in the middle of feeding right when I was getting to his turn. He was not too fond of me leaving the rotation unfinished and he certainly let me know. I had to go check who it was because it definitely wasn’t any of our usual mouthy members, so I of course automatically assumed something was wrong. I rushed out of the barn to practically trip over Julian who was RIGHT there at the door SCREECHING as loud and as obnoxiously as he could. 🙄🤦🏼‍♀️🐷😂

Julian has been trying very hard to earn his place in the Bad Boy’s Club with Stinky and Baycon! 😎 He’s even had a few chances to free range with them, but he doesn’t like to go too far from the barn.

This picture was taken a few weeks ago, hence the lack of snow — it’s cold and my fingers go numb when I remove my gloves for pictures. 😅❄️ I promise I’ll try to post more! 😛

Anyway, since this picture Stinky has decided to reside within the penned area outside. He went in one day for feeding time and has never left. 🤷🏼‍♀️ It was a little rocky at first because Julian wasn’t fond of the idea, but they seem to have worked their issues out and they’re even bunking together! 😱 They’ve become really good friends and are pretty much always together. I’m not really sure who the top “dog” is anymore because they seem to share the responsibility and they don’t dominate over each other in any specific way. They share their everything (meals, beds, toys and treats) and there is literally no conflict between the two anymore! 🥰🐷
