The Aviaries!!! Hedwig (the Blue and Gold Macaw's) aviary is 5'x5'x6' tall and has a ceiling fan for during the summer, a misting system that comes on for 30 minutes 4 times a day, and a heater that is hooked up to a thermostat (anything below 60 degrees and the heater comes on). I just finished building the blue Aviary with the help from my dad ( all the framing)....it is 5'x7'x6' tall. It will house my ever growing flock of Zebra Finches and probably a pair of Kakarikis or Canary Wing Parrots. I just finished the last touches on it today, but still need to add the feeder and a couple more live plants. The Finches will be moving in to the new aviary in a few weeks....they currently have babies in the nestbox and can't be moved until the babies fledge.

Meet the newest member to the flock. His/her name is pending the DNA test. He/she is a Canary Wing Parrot A.K.A. BeeBee. This sweet baby came from Dotti Dodi Browett of Angelic Wings Aviary. He/She is such a joy and great addition to the flock! French Quarter Flock

There’s a new kid in the Flock!!!! Meet Bennie....he is a 19 year old Meyer’s Parrot. He joined the flock this past Sunday as a rescue. His original owners were a Husband and wife, but he was really the husband’s bird. The husband passed away and the wife then put Bennie in a small parakeet cage outside on the porch and was only feeding him grapes. I don’t know the circumstances of why she did that. It could be she didn’t like birds, maybe she didn’t know how to care for him, maybe she just didn’t care. I don’t point fingers, blame, or judgement, but if you can’t/won’t care for an animal properly or aren’t willing to educate yourself.....find a rescue that will take the animal or help you re-home it. Bennie will stay with me permanently and is now eating a healthy diet of veggies in the morning and gets pellets at night. He is pretty well adjusted and sweet as can be.
