All Dogs Go To Kevin LLC Training for the life you lead. The ADGTK way

The ADGTK way is the way of the dog. It’s training that’s in tune with the way a dog learns and at their pace.
(282)

We structure our training thoroughly. We break everything down, step-by-step, to break through the human-dog communication barrier. Your dog becomes super clear about the behavior that is expected and knows it will be the most rewarding. It’s the smart route to a sociable, well-mannered dog that is a pleasure for anyone to be around. We don’t work on trial and error. Our methods are drawn from a r

igorous study of dog behavior. We know how to motivate, reinforce and reward so there’s no need for harshness or dominance and you get results. It’s important to us, too, to share the ‘why’ of our training approach as well as the ‘how’ so that you can have confidence we’re doing the best for you and your dog for the long term. After every ADGTK program, you’ll have a foundation of great skills yourself that you can apply to all the different situations, environments and adventures you’ll encounter in your lives together. The ADGTK way can
Fast track basic obedience and manners with fun group classes or intensive day training
Give puppies the right start for a confident life
Build great social skills out and about in the world so your dog is welcome wherever you go
Tackle behavior problems such as lunging and barking at other dogs on leash or at gates and fences, jumping up at guests, over exuberance with other dogs on walks, leash pulling, food or object guarding

Why ADGTK? Designed around the way dogs learn for efficient training
Smart, structured plans to take away the frustration of stalled progress
Positive, rewarding methods to motivate and make training fun for you and your dog.

Walking your dog can be one of the most enjoyable parts of the day, but it can also be frustrating if your dog pulls on the leash. Many pet parents struggle with leash walking because they jump straight into outdoor walks without building a solid foundation first. The key to transforming your daily walks lies in starting indoors, where distractions are minimal, and your dog can focus on learning what you'd like them to do. This post will guide you through the process of perfecting leash skills inside your home before venturing outside, staying close to home at first to prevent new distractions from popping up nonstop.

Why Start Indoors?

Indoor training offers a controlled environment where your dog can learn without the overwhelming distractions of the outside world. When you begin leash training inside:

- Your dog can focus on you without competing stimuli like other dogs, cars, or people.

- You create a positive association with the leash and walking calmly.

Starting indoors helps your dog understand what you'd like before you challenge them with the complexities of outdoor walks.

Setting Up for Indoor Leash Training

Before you begin, gather the right tools and prepare your space:

- Treats: Have small, tasty treats ready to reward good behavior.
- Quiet Space: Choose a room or hallway with minimal distractions and enough space for walking back and forth.

Clear the area of obstacles to prevent accidents and create a safe zone for training.

Step-by-Step Leash Training Plan

1. Start Walking Backwards

Start off walking backwards and treat your dog for following each step of the way.

2. Rotate to Face the Same Direction

When you have your dog's undivided attention you're ready to rotate and have your dog on your side. Treat each step you take.

3. Add in Steps and Then Start Over Outside

Start to add in steps between rewards so that your dog will follow you for random rewards. You're now ready to practice this plan outside. Start off with step 1 where there aren't lots of distractions. Be patient and have some fun!
