Today’s my birthday, and I have only ONE wish!!!

Please help me celebrate by making a donation to Kasia's Ark Bird Rescue, so I can get the birds some much needed supplies. 2/3 of the birds are special needs and unadoptable, requiring extra care and special provisions, based on each bird’s disability and individual needs. After years of focusing on taking in every bird I got a call about, my energy isn’t the same it was when I first started in 2004, and my dream has been to expand my education program.

I just embarked on a brand new journey, and am taking every opportunity to educate the public, especially children, about wildlife, birds, animals, kindness, empathy, and compassion. Children are no longer learning these things at home, so to see them connect with a bird as I place them in a child’s eager hands, and watch them make eye contact, smile, and ask if it’s ok to pet them, is priceless. THAT is where it starts. I was in the fourth grade when a lady came to my school, and having just immigrated to the US from Poland, I didn’t speak English yet, so didn’t understand what she was saying, but the slideshow made a huge impact on my life, and here I am, running my own rescue and doing the same presentation this lady did when I was 10. She showed that all famous photo we have all seen, of a mallard duck with the plastic Coca Cola rings round his neck, and showed us how to correctly cut all the loops. This made a huge impact on me and planted a seed. Now I’m doing the same by taking Kasia’s Ark to various locations so I can keep educating the public. I’ve never gotten paid to do this, but donations are always welcome and appreciated. With prices of feed and supplies constantly rising, and bygas pieces through the roof, many rescues have permanently closed their doors.

Please help me continue, and donate if you are able.

Beautiful story!

I have a couple just like these two. Moses, a one eyed ex fighting rooster, and Pocahontas, a street hen that came from the 9th ward, bone sticking out of her leg, protecting her six newly hatched baby chicks.

Last September, Perla's partner, EB, had a heart attack while our founder was putting him to bed. Our founder (me) preformed CPR on him but EB didn't make it. It was horribly traumatic. Poor Perla saw everything 💔 She watched her best friend die right in front of her.

Wayne had just lost his best friend, Rosie. The sweetest hen who ever lived. They were perfectly paired. Wayne is the kindest, most gentle rooster we've ever known.

With Wayne and Perla without a partner, we decided to give them a try together. Wayne was smitten, but he was respectful and gave her the space Perla needed in the beginning. By week two, they had become really good friends. Now, they are completely inseparable and Perla loves the kind way that Wayne cares for her. And so do we. 💖

Anyone able and willing, PLEASE help my friend and her rescue. I’ve known her for years and she runs a rooster rescue, specializing in cockfighting roosters. I’ve adopted six of them from her several years ago.

Y’all know I’m a huge fan of pigeons, apparently so is she, but I had NO IDEA she was helping them THIS much.

If you have even $5 you can spare, it’ll be very much appreciated. Rescues are NOT publicly funded, and most people don’t donate.

Thank you!!!🥰

PSA: the past few days, Kasia's Ark Bird Rescue has gotten several calls about “hawks circling”.

These are NOT hawks, they’re vultures, AKA nature’s cleanup crew.

People will be seeing a lot of them locally because of all the wildlife, livestock, and pets left out to fend for themselves. These birds circling above means something dead below, or close to death.

They do not need rescue, they aren’t doing anything strange. With the weather as cold as it’s been, our poor wildlife simply isn’t prepared for such cold temperatures. 😞

Vultures digest dangerous bacteria with highly acidic stomachs, destroying pathogens that would sicken other animals and spread disease.

By clearing carcasses fast, they reduce pests, infection, and outbreaks. Removing the dead keeps the living healthier.

Please send healing vibes for my sweet little special needs serama, Twinkle Toes. He just had 3 seizures this morning.

I’m at my wit’s end. I can’t start the year off losing my most special baby. I almost lost him a few weeks ago when my last heating pad finally gave out and we had a hard freeze. Thankfully, an amazing kind soul ordered a heating pad for him from Kasia's Ark Bird Rescue’s wish list, and he finally recovered. Yesterday, he didn’t want to eat, so I had to tube feed him. He had 3 seizures so far. I thought I was losing him and it was death throes. I’ve given him fluids and have him wrapped up to immobilize him and keep him from hurting himself. Im shaking.

He’s my sweetest little boy and loves to cuddle. He and his 2 brothers have been doing so well, even though they’re special needs. Each day I get to spend with them is cherished, but I’m so tired of my heart constantly breaking because each and every one of them is on borrowed time. Holding him while he’s seizing, knowing there’s nothing I can do to help him, it needs to just run its course, is mentally exhausting.

Please donate if you are able. Donations are welcome, and necessary, so that I can continue providing the best for them. Please say a little prayer for my boy so he pulls through this. This like this pop up unexpectedly all the time, especially with the ones that have genetic issues and were discarded. He’s been a favorite with everyone who’s met him. In the pic he’s about 3 minutes after his last one. 😞

This Giving Tuesday, please consider making a donation to Kasia's Ark Bird Rescue if you are able. Donations have helped provide the necessary diets, treats, bedding, supplements, and other items for the birds at Kasia’s Ark, as well as antibiotics, supplements and veterinary care when necessary.

With the temperatures dipping into the 30’s some nights already, I need to winter proof the outdoor aviary and coops, as 2/3 of the birds I have are special needs, and a lot of them have trouble staying warm, especially at night.

Any local donations (I work in Ponchatoula) of feed and other supplies are also welcome and appreciated.

For those who have asked, Kasia’s Ark also has an Amazon wish list:

This poor baby came in last night. She’s been dumped.

She is debeaked (a common practice in the egg laying industry, where they take the female chicks as soon as they’re sexed, and cut the tip of their beak off with a searing hot knife), covered in caked on mud and dirt, missing tons of feathers, and covered in parasites, and is anemic.

I’m gonna wait a few days before I bathe her so as not to shock her already fragile system. It’s been a very long time since I’ve seen a chicken in this condition. 😞

As always, donations are needed and very much appreciated. This is never ending. As soon as I adopt one out, two more come in their place. I am a one-
woman rescue, don’t get paid to do this, and do what I can with very minimal donations. Feed and medicine alone cost between $450-600 a month, depending on what birds I have at any given time.

If you are willing and able to, you can donate through one of the following:
