While walking the streets of New Orleans, you’ll find the street names spelled out on each corner with white and blue ceramic tiles, as these socks depict. This practice began in the mid 1800’s, and the tiles are now landmarks unique to the Crescent City. While walking those streets, you're sure to find someone who will be willing to bet you they know where you got your shoes. It's a scam that probably dates back just as far as the street tiles. The correct answer is, "On the street!" - whichever street that you happen to be standing on.
