Please note this is not a Wetzel County Commission or Wetzel County Animal Shelter approved post. This is false information that the shelter was unaware of unfortunately. This “free adoption days“ is not occurring at the Wetzel County Animal Shelter this weekend. Whoever created and posted this event did not have approval from the interim director at the Wetzel County Animal Shelter nor is affiliated with the shelter in any way. Please watch as we will have free adoption events, coming up in the next coming days,weeks, and months as we would love to see all of our animals find their forever home, and we do apologize for any kind of confusion or any mixed messages out there at this time. Again, this event is NOT occurring this weekend at the Wetzel County Animal Shelter. Please spread the message as this is false information that we do NOT support NOR did we create.

I'd like to introduce Elliott. He's one that needs some alone time...... tell him he's special. A casual visit may not show you his silly and affectionate nature, which he generally displays towards dogs. However, his interaction with cats is uncertain, and we can examine this possibility. Come by and meet him. Take him for a walk. You could be his person!

Just a boy and his dog! 💖
THIS particular dog, a plain ole c**n hound, barked ALL the time, the only thing he truly looked forward to was food. BUT wait.....maybe it wasn't the food, it was the company. Maybe the barking was boredom? PLEASE don't put a limit on their time. They only need to find their "boy"

How about our little Reese? Look at that sweet face! He is a total CLOWN!

This guy has come a long way since coming to the shelter. He behaves and does very well on a leash- enjoys walks the most and gets excited. Loves hiking as well- anything to be outdoors with his person!

He likes MOST dogs and he has not been on a lot of car rides- but he would be open to doing a trial day trip if you're up for it- maybe for a nature walk or to see the water.

Reese is up to date on all vaccinations and has been neutered.

Well, hello there from our pretty boy, Oliver!

He is such a ham!

Oliver is a 1 year old black and tan mix breed. He showed up at WCAS as a stray and was so malnourished and dehydrated. It took him a little while but he is certainly full of life and vibrancy now!

Oliver LOVES other dogs. We have not cat tested him yet- but we are happy to do so upon request. He just hasn't seemed 100% sure YET and we are giving him space and time. He won't get much bigger than the 45 pounds he's at currently.

Oliver's level of energy and love of the outdoors would make him the perfect hiking buddy and he would gladly cuddle up beside you on the couch after a long day's hike.

Oliver is current on his vaccinations and will be altered prior to heading to his FUEVER home.

If you are interested in a meet and greet with Oliver, please call the shelter directly to make arrangements at 304-455-5348- don't forget to bring a small toy, ball, or treat to buddy up to him quickly!

Good morning from Skylar at the WCAS!

Is she not the prettiest girl you've seen with those gorgeous eyes?!

Skylar truly is the most perfect canine companion. She's fun, a great size, and a little snuggle bug!

She loves other dogs to play with and she doesn't mind cats. She does not like being left alone for long periods but she does crate easily. She adores walks and does very well on a leash.

Skyler is up to date on her vaccinations and will be altered before she goes to her FUREVER home.

If you believe this pretty girl could be the right fit companion for you/your family, please contact the shelter to make arrangements to spend time with her- bring her a toy or a special treat and you will both fall in love!
