Working cat candidates like the beautiful 8-year-old Dove here are waiting for their day of hire!

Working cats, or barn cats, are independent cats who thrive when they have the freedom to roam in a safe environment. These cats are too feisty or fearful of people to enjoy life as companion housecats. Your barn, greenhouse, workshop, or other outbuilding can be a great place to employ one or more working cats.

You’ll enrich the life of a cat, and they will provide a natural source of rodent control. Just like a housecat, they need daily food and water, and a dry, safe place to live in all seasons. They will need routine yearly vaccines, flea and tick preventative, and medical care if sick or injured.

Our working cats are neutered/spayed, microchipped, FELV and FIV tested negative, and started on vaccinations and preventatives. The $10 adoption fee for working cats is a great deal! Consider adopting a pair for their benefit and yours.

New to owning a working cat? We will give you guidance to help your cat make a good transition to its new environment, and we are available to answer your questions along the way.

If you are ready to hire Dove the working cat, stop by the Quakertown Shelter today! Please note that our shelters are closed tomorrow for our annual staff party.

Truffles here on this to bring you all the chill vibes. Truffles is a 6-year-old charming calico. She's a major treat lover and enjoys playing with catnip toys. Truffles was part of a large-scale rescue case, and she is now ready to find her loving family.

If you like to live a relaxing lifestyle, then Truffles is totally your girl — she enjoys lounging around in a soft, cozy palace to call her own.

She can be more on the independent side, so Truffles will thrive in a patient home that allows her as much time as she needs to acclimate to her new environment. Truffles enjoys human company over feline friends so we are recommending that she be your only cat. She would do best in a cat savvy home that can understand her boundaries, and any kids should be at least age 12.

If your heart and home is open to this unique kitty, stop by the Quakertown Shelter to meet Truffles today!

It's Missy Monday! This spotted beauty is a 9-month-old Terrier Pit mix. She's a happy-go-lucky gal who loves being by your side. Missy is ready to find a loving home where she will have a lot of toys, treats, and playtime.

We recommend attending positive reinforcement classes with her immediately to get her started on the right paw in her new home. January is and the Bucks County SPCA is offering many classes in the new year! We provide discounted training classes to adopters: https://buckscountyspca.org/get-help/dog-training-classes/

Meet our cat with the prettiest pink nose!
Zoey is an alluring 12-year-old gal who is looking for a loving forever home where she can enjoy her golden years in comfort.

She loves to curl up on her bed for cozy naps. However, once she gets to know you, your lap is the only place she'll want to be! Zoey will thrive with someone who can allow her to settle in at her own pace and doesn't need much personal space. She will also do best in a home without young children.

If Zoey sounds like purr-fect companion you've been looking for, stop by our Lahaska Shelter to meet her today! We are open Noon to 3 pm on weekends and Noon to 6 pm on weekdays. Adoptions end a half hour before closing.

It's been a season that keeps on giving!
A couple who are great friends of our shelter, recently came in with their dog Clarissa to donate. They developed the “Scruffy Fund” when their previous dog would find loose change on their walks together, and Clarissa is now tasked with this great duty. We received all the money they found this year; thank you Clarissa and her humans for this creative donation! It's always even more special when furry friends are involved with our community's generosity — we are so grateful.

The wonderful president of the New Hope Colony Foundation for the Arts stopped by to make a donation in honor of Susan Clark Eaton, a local artist and "notorious" animal lover. In her memory, they held an exhibition of Sue's artwork across her many mediums entitled "Susan Clark Eaton: An Artistic Life" to celebrate Sue's life and her beautiful art. From November 15 through December 15, they raised an incredible $2,000 from her sold artwork. All proceeds went to the Bucks County SPCA because of Sue's life-long devotion to all animals and a chance to give back locally. We are grateful to Ms. Eaton and to the Foundation for their generosity. Thank you, New Hope Colony Foundation for the Arts.

Thanks to all who donate to our shelters. The Bucks County SPCA is an independent community-supported nonprofit, and we rely almost entirely on private donations. We could not achieve our lifesaving work without you! Every gift you give helps us rescue, heal, and rehome animals across Bucks County.

We are so grateful for our generous community! Thank you Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bucks County for supporting our shelter pets. The animals will love these blankets and they will help the animals feel comfortable while they wait for new homes. 😻

The match that just keeps on giving 🥹

Little Sister Ashlyn, with her Big Sister Jan, have spent their mentorship get-togethers giving back to the Bucks County Community!

Their most recent project? Crafting cozy no-sew fleece blankets for the animals at the Bucks County SPCA 🐾

But that’s not all, these two have also:

- Collected food for the local food bank during Cranksgiving 🍲
- Served meals at a bicycle club picnic 🚴‍♀️
- Assisted with donor registration at an American Red Cross blood drive 🩸

We love seeing our Bigs guide their Littles not just in personal growth, but in learning to make a positive impact on the world around them. 😊

Help support matches like Ashlyn and Jan by donating to our mentorship programs today: bbbsbc.org/support/fb

These cute faces are waiting for their forever farm homes! Gail, Barbara Ann, Goatzart, and Vincent Van Goat are the last remaining goats to be adopted from our rescue of 124 animals from Narrow Way Farm in August 2024. They would love a home where they have room to graze and enjoy their lives with a loving family. Goatzart and Vincent Van Goat are best buddies and should be adopted together.

Lewis and Howie are young pot-bellied pigs who came to our shelters when they were abandoned at Nockamixon State Park last summer in separate instances. They both require experienced pig adopters. Luckily they are very food motivated! Howie has a strong personality and needs a home with plenty of space to roam and explore at his leisure. Lewis can be a little forward and jumpy, but he sure is cute with those spots and any time he's slopping up his applesauce treat!

If you would like to set up an appointment for adoption, please call our Quakertown Shelter at 267-347-4674. Priority will be given to those that make appointments; walk-ins will be accommodated when possible but are not guaranteed.

Meet Kate, 7-year-old Shepherd Mix, a loving gal who is always smiling. She’s ready to find joy with a family and settle down in a calm place to call home. Kate enjoys walks, spending quality time with her human companions, and cozying up for a nap.

Kate is looking for a home where children are ages 10 and up, and they can respect her space. Any potential canine companions are required to meet her at the shelter prior to adoption; we will set up a meet and greet appointment. Kate weighs 75 lbs. and she is spayed, microchipped, heart worm tested negative, and vaccinated.

If this friendly girl seems like a good fit in your home, visit this beauty at our Quakertown Shelter today! https://buckscountyspca.org/pets/kate/

Check out an alum from our working cat program, Callie! Adopted in 2017, this hard-working gal is still on the job. She takes her duty of fine-tuning the farm equipment quite seriously. The Bucks County SPCA is always pleased to find safe, free-roaming placements for independent cats like Callie.

In return for freedom in a secure environment, working cat employee duties include providing a natural source of rodent control for your barn, workshop, greenhouse, or other outbuilding. These buildings ensure that they stay warm and dry, where they can come and go as they please. You provide them with food, water, and regular veterinary care, just like you’d give to your housecat.

We have 16 available working cats awaiting their loving barn homes. Help one or two live a fun and adventurous life like Callie. The $10 adoption fee for working cats is a great deal! Consider adopting a pair for their benefit and yours.

❗️Animal Cruelty Investigation – Reward Offered❗️

This dog was found in Tullytown Borough on Tuesday evening after witnesses reported seeing the dog thrown from a moving car. Tullytown Police brought the dog to the Bucks County SPCA shelter in Lahaska. The dog has been examined by our veterinarian and is receiving treatment for minor wounds likely resulting from being thrown from a car, as well as other serious pre-existing medical conditions. Our Humane Law Enforcement team is investigating in conjunction with Tullytown Police. We are deeply concerned that this dog may have experienced cruel treatment prior to this violent act.

We are determined to find the parties responsible and hold them accountable. Therefore, we are offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of the perpetrator(s). We are unfortunately unable to provide additional details at this time. Anyone with information about this investigation can use the Bucks County SPCA report cruelty tipline at 844-SPCA-TIP (844-772-2847) or [email protected].
