Thanksgiving is tomorrow! 🦃🐾
As we prepare to feast, let’s remember to keep our pets safe too!🐶🍂 You may be tempted to share the feast with your furry friends, but many holiday foods can be harmful and even fatal to your pet! 🙅♂️
Here are some popular Thanksgiving foods you should keep away from your pet:
🦃 Turkey skin, seasoned meat, raw meat, bones, or turkey twine
🥣 Gravy trimmings
🥘 Fatty foods
🌽 Corn on the cob
🍞 Raw bread dough or yeast
🥂 Alcoholic beverages
🍇 Raisins, grapes, and nuts
🍫 Chocolate
🥧 Baked goods/candy with Xylitol (also known as Birch sugar)
🧄 Anything seasoned (garlic, onions, nutmeg, leeks, and more are toxic to pets)
If you believe your pet was exposed to something harmful, call your vet or a pet poison helpline IMMEDIATELY ⚠️ The sooner an issue is addressed, the easier and less expensive it is to treat!
☎️ Pet Poison Helpline: (855) 764-7661
*A consultation fee may apply. Do NOT induce vomiting without consulting a vet or Pet Poison Helpline
It is always safest to avoid sharing human food with pets! 🐶🐱 But if you’re worried that your pet may be feeling left out, here are some foods that are safe to share with your pet (we advise doing so in moderation):
🍗 Turkey (fully cooked + no bones + unseasoned)
💚 Green beans (unseasoned)
🥕 Plain carrots (unseasoned)
🍠 Sweet potatoes (cooked + peeled + unseasoned)
🍎 Apple slices (remove the core and seeds)
🧡 Pure canned pumpkin
ALSO: Make sure your pet doesn’t sneak into the trash to find their own feast! 🗑️ Make sure trash cans are closed and secure at all times
HAPPY THANKSGIVING 🦃🍂
