Our lead doctor, Dr Julia Chant, shared these moving words at our ribbon cutting ceremony today:
Good morning, everyone. It’s such an honor to be standing here today, surrounded by so many wonderful people who have made opening Elm City Vet possible.
From a very young age, I knew that I wanted to dedicate my life to caring for animals. There’s something about the bond between humans and animals that is unlike any other, and I’ve always felt it deeply. That’s why I chose to pursue veterinary medicine. It’s not just a career for me — it’s a calling, a chance to make a real difference in the lives of both the animals I treat and the families who love them.
Opening this facility in New Haven isn’t just about providing excellent care to pets; it was about creating a space where animals and their owners can feel supported, safe, and cared for. It’s about creating a community of healing and compassion, where we not only treat injuries and illnesses but also support and strengthen the human/animal bond.
I’m proud to say that, as a team, we are working toward a vision of a brighter future for both animals and people, where compassion leads the way, and where our commitment to healing and giving hope shines through every procedure, every visit, and every animal we treat.
Thank you all for being here today, for supporting our vision, and for believing in what we do. Together, we are making a difference — not just for New Haven, but for every animal whose life we touch.
