Cotton Tails Rabbit Rescue, Inc.

Cotton Tails Rabbit Rescue, Inc. We are a foster based rescue - we find loving homes for small animals in and around Rockland County, New York. Cotton Tails is a foster based rabbit rescue.

We take in rabbits from residents of Rockland County. We also assist area shelters by taking in their rabbits whenever possible. We provide medical care from our local small animal veterinarians. All of our rabbits are spayed/neutered prior to adoption, (when health permits). We are here to help educate the community on responsible pet ownership.

WELCOME BACK MARSHMALLOW!

We would like to introduce you to our newest intake. This is Marshmallow, a very interactive two year old neutered male bunny with a zest for life!

Marshmallow is having a blast in his foster home. He is litter trained, curious and affectionate. After being returned from his original home, through no fault of his own, Marshmallow is still a trusting little guy who is ready to love again!

For more information, please email us at [email protected].

Welcome back to the Cottontails family Marshmallow! ❤️

Hello Everyone! I know its been quiet here recently. My apologies. CTRR’s social media extraordinaire and adoption counselor Rachel needs to take some time to focus on work demands.
Hopefully, it won’t be for too long. We miss her terribly! So for now, you are stuck with me! I promise to do my best to keep us active on social media, in addition to working on rescues, fosters and adoptions.

With that said, we are currently searching for a forever home for a super sweet little guy, Marshmallow. Unfortunately, his story is not unique. However, it is so very sad.

Family falls madly in love with a baby bunny. Children and parents simply have to have him. Parents agree that if the children lose interest they will continue to love and care for Marshmallow for his entire life. Yea right. What they might have meant was, until they no longer wanted to care for him.

WHY?

They decided they had to return him asap because they bought a dog. A very prey driven dog. The parents were concerned that their dog would kill Marshmallow. Of course we just wanted to get Marshmallow to safety. In the process we found out that poor Marshmallow was very neglected!

This loving, trusting little boy had the worst stool impaction we have ever seen. In addition, he was very overweight. Most likely from improper feeding and lack of exercise.

Cottontails works very hard to carefully screen all adopters. Unfortunately, there are some people who just aren’t aware what kind of commitment having a pet is.

We are grateful for one thing, he was returned to us. We will now find him another family who will love him forever.

Stay tuned tomorrow for some pictures and videos of Marshmallow in his foster home. He is doing amazing!

Cotton Tails friends and family, it’s that time of year again… Buntoberfest!

We’ve been proud to be a vendor at this wonderful event every year and have always loved being part of the bunny-filled festivities, from vet talks, fun toys and to meeting all of you.

This year, we were all signed up and excited to attend once again, but rescue duties had other plans for us. Unfortunately, we won’t be able to make it this time.

That said, we still want to encourage all of you to go, have fun, and support an amazing cause! Willys Wabbits 2.0 puts on this event every year, and it just keeps getting better. Be sure to check out the details and hop on over!

Wow… this week in rescue was an emotional storm, heartbreaking lows and soaring highs. We have so much to catch you up on! But let’s close this week out with the brightest high of all…

🎉🎉🎉 ADOPTED!!! 🎉🎉🎉

Malcolm’s story broke our hearts. He was seized from animal control, not because he was neglected, but because his family was put into protective care after domestic violence in the home. We can only imagine the fear and confusion… and then, losing his family on top of it all. We knew we had to step in.

Today, Malcolm is living the dream. He is free-roam, spoiled, and completely adored by his new mom. These two are inseparable, two peas in a pod from the start.

Her words say it all: “I am so grateful to have found my little angel boy.” 💕

Our hearts here at Cotton Tails? Absolutely melted.

*All images and videos in this reel are from Malcolm’s new home.*

Remy’s favorite routine? Relax, explore, eat, pets, repeat. 😂 He’s curious, easygoing, and, let’s be honest… incredibly handsome and he knows it!

Look at our sweet girl, Sonja. She has been waiting for OVER A YEAR for her forever home. Over a year of watching other bunnies leave… yet she still waits. How could anyone pass up a face like hers?

Sonja’s story is heartbreaking. She was one of seven rabbits abandoned in a junkyard in New Jersey—left with nothing, in a place where she would not have survived without the kindness of a good Samaritan who stepped in to save them.

One by one, her rescued friends found loving homes… except for Sonja and her sister, Romona.

Sonja is a gentle soul. She may be shy at first, but once she feels safe, she blossoms into a loving girl. She’s a litter box pro and she’d be wonderful as an only bunny or as a bond to another bunny.

She’s been overlooked for far too long—maybe because she’s quiet, maybe because she’s patient. But she’s ready. Ready for her person. Ready for her forever.

🚨 We Are Currently Closed to Intakes Until Further Notice! 🚨

We love making joyful adoption reels like the one we shared yesterday about Paris — they remind us why we do what we do. 💛

But the truth is, like so many shelters and rescues right now, we’re facing a tough reality: adoptions and foster homes are at an all-time low, while surrenders are at an all-time high. We’re not sure why, but we know we can’t do this without your help.

Can you think of a friend, coworker, or family member who might be open to fostering — or even better, adopting? Please share our info with them! It truly fills our hearts to match bunnies with loving homes.

Our sweet Paris.

She came to us in heartbreaking condition. Dumped in Queens. Left to die.

A kind woman happened to notice a group of feral cats meowing and circling something white behind a pile of trash and a chain-link fence. Curious, she got closer, only to realize it was a RABBIT. A terrified, desperate rabbit doing everything to stay hidden… to stay alive.

The woman shooed the cats away, and the moment the danger cleared, the rabbit ran straight into her arms—pleading for help. That rabbit was Paris.

When Paris came to us, she was in rough shape. She was very malnourished, full of parasites and had an injury that required stitches. Her recovery was slow, but the wait for her forever home? Even slower.

But Paris' story doesn't end here. Stay tuned for part 2, posting tomorrow.
