Training Buddies Spotlight: Meet Lucy & Oliver!

Today at the Wimberley location, we’re celebrating two very special students—Lucy (front) and Oliver (back)—who may not live together, but are teaming up for some powerful mentorship!

Lucy’s Role as Mentor:
Lucy has already mastered both on- and off-leash training, and she’s here for boarding this week. With her calm confidence and perfect manners, she’s stepping into her new role as “big sister” today—helping to guide Oliver through his lesson and showing him that good things happen in training sessions!

Oliver’s Fresh Start:
Oliver joins us for private lessons after a scary encounter with another dog left him feeling unsure. He’s taken his first brave steps toward trust and confidence:

Slow introductions: We’re pairing Oliver with gentle dogs like Lucy to rebuild his social comfort one sniff at a time.

Positive reinforcement: Every calm response earns Oliver tasty praise, helping him see that training = fun.

When Jax first arrived, at our New Braunfels location, our lovable Lab was a bit… well, rounder than ideal, eyeing everyone suspiciously, and flirting with a career as a full-time bully. But over two weeks of consistent training, healthy meals, and plenty of play, this guy transformed before our eyes!

Meet Chada, our German Shepherd extraordinaire, who’s just redefined “go big or go home.” Today she decided that the kennel's biggest stick was simply not big enough—so naturally she picked up a branch that’s practically its own tree!

🚨 How to Spot a Puppy Mill 🚨
As a professional dog trainer, I’ve seen the heartbreaking consequences of dogs raised in puppy mills—neglected health, fear, and trauma. If you’re looking for a new pup, here are the red flags to watch for:

🐾 They insist on meeting off-site
❌ Refuse to show you the full facility
❌ Offer vague or changing excuses
❌ Dirty conditions, rusted cages, or stacked crates

🐾 Sick or under-socialized puppies
❌ Puppies hide, tremble, or show signs of illness
❌ No interest in play or interaction

🐾 You can't meet the parents
❌ Thin, matted coats
❌ Injuries or untreated conditions
❌ Fearful or aggressive adult dogs

🐾 No vet records or contract
❌ No vaccination or deworming info
