"Fantastic customer service! My dog was experiencing vomiting episodes after getting into something in the yard. I contacted NB Animal Urgent Care and was able to walk in right away without an appointment. I appreciated the late hours. We were greeted, filled out some registration forms, and were seen within minutes. A thorough intake was conducted, and my questions and concerns were promptly addressed. I never felt rushed or pressured into a specific treatment. Costs were provided upfront, and I opted for preventative treatment measures to be on the safe side. When you arrive, one of our technicians will listen to your concerns and assess your pet’s symptoms. They won’t diagnose or treat your pet. Instead, they’ll check for signs of serious emergencies, like respiratory distress or profuse bleeding. They will record your furry friend’s vitals and obtain a brief history. Based on their findings, the technician will then prioritize your pet with the other patients awaiting care and notify the emergency veterinarian.

🐾 A Bittersweet Farewell to Sweet Sasha! 💕

Sasha’s journey has been nothing short of remarkable. She was just a tiny kitten when she was abandoned at our clinic. From the start, she stole our hearts with her sweet, cuddly nature and boundless energy.

Being FIV positive made finding her fur-ever home a bit more challenging—she needed to be with other FIV-positive cats or in a home where she’d be the only feline. But we never gave up on her, and neither did she.

✨ Today, we are thrilled to share that Sasha has found her perfect match! She’s now thriving in a loving home where she’s cherished and adored. Watching videos of her playing, sleeping, and enjoying her new life has brought so much joy to everyone here at the clinic.

It took time, patience, and a lot of love, but seeing Sasha so happy makes it all worth it. While it’s bittersweet to say goodbye, we’re overjoyed that she’s finally where she belongs. 💖

Thank you to everyone who supported Sasha’s journey and to her wonderful new family for giving her the life she deserves.

🎄 Not Just Festive, but Healing Too! 🐾

We know this season is about joy and togetherness, but sometimes our furry friends can get into unexpected scuffles. Dog fights happen, and knowing what to do can make all the difference for your pet’s safety and recovery.

💡 Here’s what you should do if your dog is involved in a fight:
1️⃣ Stay Calm: Dogs sense your emotions. A calm approach helps diffuse the situation.
2️⃣ Separate Safely: Avoid putting your hands near the dogs' mouths—use loud noises or objects to distract them.
3️⃣ Assess Injuries: Even small wounds can lead to infections. Check your dog thoroughly.
4️⃣ Seek Veterinary Care: A professional can properly clean and treat wounds, preventing complications.

✨ Our brave patient here is recovering beautifully after a little altercation. Their festive onesie isn’t just adorable; it keeps their bandages in place and wounds protected while they heal—without crashing into walls or struggling to eat and drink.

🐾✨ Mating Season = More Porcupine Quills! 🦔

As we wrap up mating season, it’s important to keep in mind that wild animals like porcupines become more active and may venture closer to urban areas in search of mates. Unfortunately, this also means more encounters between curious pets and these prickly creatures! ⚠️

What You Should Know About Porcupine Quills: Porcupines have sharp, barbed quills that can easily lodge in your pet's skin or mouth, causing pain, injury, and sometimes infections. These quills are not easy to remove, and your pet may require veterinary intervention to safely extract them.

What To Do:

If your pet has a run-in with a porcupine, don’t try to remove the quills yourself—this can push them in deeper and cause more harm.
Call your vet immediately! Quill removal is best done by professionals to avoid further injury.
Keep your pets on a leash or within a securely fenced area during hikes or walks to reduce the risk of encounters.
🐕🐈 Prevention is Key: Stay aware of wildlife activity, especially around dawn and dusk when porcupines are most active.
