🌼May☀

Name 📛: Bruce
Age 🎂: 6 years
Breed: White and Grey Cat
Meet Bruce: Bruce is a 6-year-old white and grey kitty who is also one of our diabetic patients. Bruce recently hit a big milestone — graduating from visits every couple of weeks to only needing check-ins every 4 weeks! For anyone caring for a diabetic pet, you know what an exciting and rewarding achievement that is. Managing diabetes in our furry friends can sometimes be challenging, so milestones like this are worth celebrating! 💙

Bruce is such a sweetheart and absolutely loves a good face rub. He spends his blood glucose checks nonstop purring and soaking up all the attention from our team. 🐾

We are so happy to have a feline patient like Bruce at NBVC! ✨

Tick season is here, and it’s important to stay informed and protected. 🕷️🌿

Lyme disease is caused by bacteria transmitted through infected blacklegged (deer) ticks. These ticks — both nymphs and adults — are active whenever temperatures are above freezing. Lyme disease can affect people and pets of any age and is spread when an infected tick remains attached for 36 hours or more.

The most common sign of Lyme disease is an expanding rash that may look like a bull’s-eye or solid red patch near the bite site. Other symptoms can include:
• Fever or chills
• Muscle aches
• Headache
• Fatigue

Common signs of Lyme disease in dogs may include:
• Fever
• Lethargy or tiredness
• Loss of appetite
• Swollen lymph nodes
• Joint pain or stiffness
• Limping that may shift from leg to leg
• Reluctance to walk, run, or jump

✔️ Check yourself, children, and pets for ticks after spending time outdoors
✔️ Remove ticks promptly and properly
✔️ Wear protective clothing and use tick repellents when outdoors

Early detection and treatment are important. Stay safe and tick aware this season. The good news is we have great preventative options available, give us a call today! ☺️🐱🐶
