What words have you (unintentionally?) attached an emotional response to in your dog? Are you spelling W.A.L.K? The less we talk to our dogs without reason, the more our selected words can hold value. And this goes for almost everything- the less you’re giving your dog affection and pets all day long, the more value your affection has. The less free access to all their toys your dog has all the time, the more value a toy and play session WITH you will have. Phe hadn’t seen this old Tug in a month or so- this toy had higher value than any food or treat in this moment of impulse control for her. If you want a better relationship make yourself, your words and your energy more valuable than anything else. I challenge people all the time to do their whole morning walk and feed routine without talking and see how their dog responds to just energy. You might be pleasantly surprised🫶
