This horses name is bullseye and I wish I had before pictures when I first started working on him last year
He had a lot of issues that we had to work on and the transformation is amazing!
On his fronts (as you see in these pictures) he had very underrun heels and thin sole so it was a process to get heels back and still has some ways to go but this is progress
The first picture the line drawn is were his heels use to be last year

So happy he is doing better and hope he continues to improve hes only 4 so to have the issues he had and see how he has improved is a great feeling 😊

Sorry if this is to gross for people

This was the first animal I trimming right out of farrier school (5 years ago) he is a mini donkey and his back foot is severely distorted due to an injury when he was little
It hasn't slowed him down (until today) he uses the back leg as a crutch and that's about it and since he doesn't bear weight on it it causes the hoof to grow different and curl up
Today the hoof capsule fell off I'm not sure why it did but it did
It's been padded and wrapped for maximum protect and we hope the hoof wall will grow back 🙏

Not having horses and being a farrier is an odd thing but I feel I get more attached to my clients horses because of not having my own ❤️
So when a client has to give their horse wings it's a hard feeling for me as well

Ace you were a sweetheart of a horse and I will miss you greatly ❤️❤️

5 years ago today I finished farrier school
5 years ago my career as a farrier started and it's the best decision I have ever made
I love the animals I have the chance to work on and help and their amazing owners that have become friends
Yes this career has been difficult at times but the good days always beat the bad ones

Here's to many more years of being a farrier

I wanted to take a moment and thank my amazing clients
As many of you know my annual Colorado trip is this weekend and last weekend I was invited to ride and unfortunately the horse I rode bucked me off
The owner did warn me but my stubbornness got the best of me lol I am ok but I did land hard on my left side and locked up my hip and lower back
The reason I am thanking my clients is because I had to reschedule some work and I feel aweful since I am still going to Colorado
But thus summer has been rough for me between work life and personal life so I am looking forward to getting aways and just relaxing
So to my clients I apologize for the inconvenience of my trip and injury and hope you all understand

If a horse can learn to bring you your tools this is the one that will do it lol she was playing with my tools while I trimmed her pasture buddies and also watch me work too lol what a goofy fun horse to be around she's a sweetheart 🥰
it's a great feeling developing relationships with the horses I work on and their owners 😁

Yesterday I had a couple of horses with some big feet to shoe one had a size 2 shoe and the other was a size 3 both did great even with the heat and bugs

Since it is farrier week I decided to make a post 😁
there are alot of post about farriers and the hard part of this career and I am guilty of posting them as well
So I wanted to make a post about why I absolutely love my job 🥰
The thing I love most about it is obviously the horses
I have worked on some great horses and the ones with a goofy personality that just make you smile, is the best thing
Then there's the owners that have treated me so well over the years that have become friends that always look forward to you coming out just as much as their horse does
It's amazing when you hear a client say that their horse is doing better after you worked on it, or they took your advice and made their horse better
Yes this job is hard and I have had bad days but those bad days could never compare to the good days I have had since starting this and I look forward to many more good days

So thank you to all my clients that trust me with their horses and gave me the best job I could ever have
