I’m so excited to serve the animals of Union County and to be a part of this exciting new venture!
Introducing Anna Frances Ballard
As a lifelong resident of New Albany, I have always had a deep passion for animals and the role they play in our community. Over the years, I’ve owned, rescued, and fostered a wide variety of animals — including dogs, cats, horses, and even a few reptiles. Today, my home is happily full with four dogs, too many cats, chickens, and four horses. Caring for animals isn’t just something I do, it’s truly part of who I am.
Giving back to the community and advocating for animals has always been important to me. I strongly believe in the power of community education - especially when it comes to responsible pet ownership, spay and neuter initiatives, disease prevention, and promoting overall animal health and welfare.
In 2025, I opened Houndstongue Pet Hotel, a full-service boarding and daycare facility. Through this work, I’ve gained extensive experience in dog behavior, enrichment, and care, and I’m excited to use those skills to support the mission of Union County Animal Shelter and Rescue.
I am truly honored to serve as a board member and look forward to helping strengthen the shelter’s impact, advocate for animals in need, and continue building a compassionate, informed community for both pets and the people who love them.
